My Dad hates this bow (or any head thing) on Ashley. He likes to keep saying how stupid it looks. He’s a bit of a butthead sometimes. I’m not fond of most head decorations but I must admit, this one is pretty cute. It fits me too, but no photos of that.
Ashley has decided she likes to sit up facing the world now. When we eat downstairs, she acts grumpy until I put her in the corner so she can see what’s going on, then she smiles and dances and such. It is the most adorable thing. It’s also realy great, because she’s getting pretty heavy!
This week has gone way too fast. Tuesday morning, we all got up early so that Matty and Dad could get to the bus station. I left Ashley at home with her father, and took the Aussies off so they could spend the day in New York. Once I came back (I love driving without the baby in the car, I can listen to my music really loudly and sing along and not have to listen out for baby noises), Ashley and I spent the day together. It had been so long since I’d been alone with the baby (almost 3 weeks) so it was a bit overwhelming. It was almost like I was a brand-new mother again, it was emotionally exhausting.
Yesterday, Katrina (used to be a waitress downstairs, now lives 6 or so hours away) came over (I think she was visiting family) with a GIANT pile of baby clothes for Ashley. I haven’t looked through the stuff fully, but apparently it is just 0-3 month clothing, she has a lot more in other sizes for us. It’s amazing. A lot of it is Halloween themed but who cares!
Last night (well, this morning) Ashley took forever to get back to sleep. Yeah it was light out, but we don’t get up that early! Once the heater was on and she was snuggled up next to me in bed, she fell asleep. I guess she was cold. I was/am exhausted now though. I don’t know if I can be bothered having a nap though. It’s been AGES since I’ve napped. i know the first month of Ashley’s life, if I didn’t have a nap I would be crying by bedtime, but now I’m generally good. Even when I do have to wake up every 2 hours.
Today at breakfast, we got special maple syrup that was made in this town. Couldn’t really tell the difference from the regular stuff, it was very subtle. It was super delicious syrup though, and we used it ALL. There was maybe a quarter cup, probably less, by the time we were done with our pancakes, so I drank it. Matty dared me to, so I did. It was delicious, like liquid maple candy. Mmm….
This afternoon, Matty and I borrowed a plane from my landlord and got to work making sure the doors in this apartment no longer stick. Well, Matty did the planing, I helped by assisting working out where the doors were sticking to the frames and thencleaning up all the mess afterwards. It’s pretty nice to be able to shut doors and know that I have the ability to open them when I want to get stuff from behind them. It’s also nice to not have to keep the stash cupboard open all the time. I was sick of staring at our stores of toilet paper/tissues/paper towel/cereal/etc.
I’m not looking forward to tomorrow. Dad and Matty are going home. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as when Mum left. Mum started crying at least 4 hours before she left for the airport, we just spent that whole time crying and hugging and it was just silly. I’m not allowed to cry that much, I have to drop the boys off at the hotel where the shuttle to the airport can pick them up, and I’ll have Ashley so I can’t cry on the way home and impair my vision.
That head thing is ridiculous, but in all the right ways.

From the look on her face, I think Ash agrees with your dad.

‘Matty and I borrowed a plane…’ This made me think of an actual, flying plane and I thought you were making up a silly story *is silly*

I don’t think Ashley is convinced about the yellow flower either! Hehe. Halloween themed clothes are cool 🙂

Awww. Brandon doesn’t like bows and such on our bald babies either. I think it’s cute!

I’m with your dad – I really don’t get the whole baby headband thing…which is why I’m glad my sister had a boy. 😉

Good lord, she’s ridiculously squishy-dorable. I can’t believe she’s two months old already! I was just thinking last night that surely she’s only around the 3-4 week mark >.< Time is weird. I like how Jake looks like a priest in that one photo. XD I hope tomorrow isn’t too painful for you. 🙁 *hug*

Ok I LOVE THE FLOWER HEADBAND!!! She looks absolutly beautiful in yellow. I get she does not love it yet. She just looks so cute. Her daddy use to only want to face out also. He wanted to see all the world had to offer. You are a good Mom so being alone with her will just require you getting use to it and all new parents feel overwhelmed.
