The reindeer has a nose!

I’m exhausted, and I kinda hate myself and how great I am at procrastinating. I have not done anywhere near as much stuff ahead of time as I wanted to have done.

Things not done – stuffing loaf is not baked, sweet potato pies are not baked, apartment has NOT BEEN CLEANED, hard boiled eggs have not been cooked.

I have been trying and meaning and trying to clean all week, but I just haven’t had the energy. I am really running low lately, it sucks. We were going to do a super-awesome clean last Sunday, but Jake went crazy and woke us both up at 4am so we didn’t go back to sleep until 7, then didn’t get up until 10… and because he was watching a game at 4, I didn’t see the point. So now, the place is disgusting and we are having a bunch of people over tomorrow. Fark.

We have made the stuffing loaf, it is in the fridge raw right now. Same with the pie filling. I wasn’t going to bake one unless we had the other ready to go in to make use of the hot oven, and we didn’t get the pie filling done until 8pm.

This morning we went to a few places. Walt’s (barber), grocery store, bank, post office. By the time we got home it was lunch time. After eating, I made the stuffing loaf (so easy, and I do have the recipe somewhere in this diary, but I can’t be bothered finding it) but had to keep taking breaks because standing hurt my feet. I don’t think we finished until about 2:30. Then we rested and watched Psych. I think we watched tv until dinner time, because this is how good we both are at procrastinating.

We had pizza for dinner, because we couldn’t be bothered cooking today. After eating (at 5pm), we peeled potatoes and sweet potatoes. Sliced them up in the food processor so they are easy and ready to cook and mash tomorrow. Chopped some more sweet potatoes and steamed them so we could make the sweet potato pie filling. Then Jake chopped a pepper and an onion for a bean salad. That had to sit for an hour, so we put the turkey in the brine. I got the turkey into the fridge Wednesday morning, but obviously should have transfered it earlier because it was still pretty frozen. Must remember for next year to get it out earlier. Once the turkey was in the bucket with the brine we finished off the beany salad. Then I came and sat down and started writing this, and it is 9:30pm. I have no idea how so much time has passed in between each thing. We should have been able to get more done!

Tomorrow morning we have to clean AND bake. I’m so glad we aren’t doing the meal until 5pm, because if we were being like crazy people and having it early or mid afternoon, I’d never have time for everything and I’d probably explode and throw food all over the place and then there would be nothing edible.

Hopefully it all goes smoothly tomorrow, all the food makes it to the table, and the only bad thing at the end of the day is that I’m too exhausted to want to eat. Which will happen no matter what.
