I hate christmas music.

We just watched a show that was on… I think last weekend. It was Thanksgiving Live! which was on the Food Network, hosted by Alton Brown. It was… kinda way better than I was expecting. We recorded it to watch later because if we had to watch it live with all the bits with Bobby Flay (who neither of us can stand) …ugh. This way we just zipped through the crud and got to watch only the enjoyable bits. I did get a few potentially useful tips out of the show too, which is nice. I like that this year we are doing it later, I get to watch things like this and get idea for THIS year. Every other year (…the last 2 years) we have done it a week or so earlier than everyone else so any tips I got at the appropriate time for everyone else were things I had to make sure I remembered for the next year. That’s just mean.

Plus this way, I get all the food bits on sale. Today we bought all the produce we need for next weekend, and pretty much all of it was on sale because OH NO WE HAVE TOO MUCH TAKE IT FROM US PLEASE! Which made me smile. I like sales.

You know what else made me REALLY happy today? Raspberry soda. I finally fucking found some!! I’ve been looking for… months probably. I could find diet, I could find raspberry ginger ale, raspberry green tea… but no just raspberry soda. Found some at the health food store today. It was on special, it’s 60% juice, and it’s pretty yummy! Super score! I love going to the health food store, it’s like… I dunno. It’s just fun to browse there, I’m not sure why. We went there for their spice section, because I needed 2 cinnamon sticks and I’m not going to buy a jar full of them that I’ll use at a rate of 2-a-year when I can just go to the health food store, get 2 cinnamon sticks, and be done with it. I’ve never tried getting ground spices there, but it can be done, and they have a HUGE selection, so the next time I try a recipe with a new seasoning element I’ll be going there rather than buying a big thing of something I may not use up.

Ramble happens. It’s the fault of the show I mentioned earlier. It was ‘live’, so it was like they were all RIGHT THERE, so I’m kind of in the same state that I get in after spending time with a bunch of people. The more people around, the less I speak, so once they all go away (or we get away) all of a sudden I become unstoppably rambly for an hour, or the drive home… depends how long we were around so many people. It’s so odd that this happens to me. It makes Jake laugh, so that’s good I guess.

I think with cinnamon rolls 2 days in a row for breakfast, I got used to a blast of carbs first thing. This morning I made pancakes for brekkie. I never make pancakes. Ok, that’s a lie, this was the second time I’ve made pancakes (and been the cook), last time being one Saturday a few months ago when Jake worked and so he came home and there was a pile of pancakes in the fridge. He likes cold pancakes, the weirdo.

Title: I do, you know. It is my absolute least favourite part of the season. I am SO GLAD Stacy does the christmas meal at her place, if I did it here I’d feel obligated to decorate and we have absolutely no christmas decorations. We have a lot of leafy and turkey decorations, so it works out well that we do the turkey day. I think the last christmas we spent here, the only decoration we had was a tree I drew on a giant piece of paper so that we had SOMEWHERE to put presents. I wonder where I put that tree? That was a pretty well drawn tree… if you thought a kid drew it. ANYWAY, christmas music. Stupid ad for Target with the crazy Target-sale christmas-obsessed woman who sings into recordable cards… I don’t have to hear it, just see a split-second of it, and BAM, crap in my head. Woo.

Tomorrow is Sunday. Today feels like it has been… oh, so many days all rolled into one. It feels like we had pancakes last week. Wow.

I really need to make a timeline for myself for the next week. Lots of stuff happening/needing to be done, and I really can’t rely on my memory at the moment. It’s nice that Jake has lots of memory-assisting tips, very useful for me at the moment. I feel like we are more ‘brainmates’ than usual, if that is even possible.

I want to drink from my water bottle but it tastes like gravy. Guess that means I should clean it with bleach again…

Yay for sales and getting stuff cheaply. I’m glad you found some raspberry soda. That health food store is a great store for playing treasure hunts. Mmmmm, gravy-tasting water bottle can’t be good.

And your ‘we have too much take it from us please’ reminds me of the ad with Katy Perry for face cleaning stuff. And of course, now I can’t quite remember what she said. Something like, I have a secret, here have my secret, please take it. Don’t you love that all the people doing these ads for solving acne problems are all the age when the acne problems go away naturally.
