Magic potatoes

When did I last write… Monday morning? Oops.

So we’ve been having a lovely week with my Dad here. Still a whole week left of his visit!

On Monday we went downstairs to have eats with Jake (breakfast? lunch? brunch? food.) and then went to the grocery store next door for a few things. The rest of the day was spent with Dad and I watching tv, which is what we do pretty much every afternoon. That, and nap (mostly him. He’s the 4th cat in this little family at the moment)

Tuesday we did not go eat with Jake. Instead, Dad and I went to the mall, where we got him some new pants and a few books. I had been told to take him shoe shopping but he was sick of shopping and walking before we got to the shoe places so that didn’t happen.

For dinner, we had what Jake and I call "Petie Pasta" because it is using Dad’s pasta sauce recipe. So he got to taste what I have done to that. Very good food.

Wednesday, we ate food with Jake, and his mum Lisa! Which was lovely. Sat downstairs for (I think) 2 hours chatting, then came back up here and more chatting until she left mid-afternoon. I love how well Jake’s family and my family get along. It is fantastic.

Thursday, more brekky/lunchy eats with Jake, although he was upstairs done eating at 10:45 when we were coming down to meet him at 11. So Jake just sat there while we ate. Meg knew what we were going to order to drink, I guess Dad and I are a touch predictable. I had super-strong allergies (I’m allergic to the cats, did you know that?) so we didn’t go grocery shopping like we needed to. So because we have nothing to make a meal out of, we went to San Remo’s for dinner, which was a delicious idea. Dad had a seafood pizza (am I the only one that things seafood on a pizza is kind of weird?) and Jake had an exploding calzone. I had gnocchi marinara, which I usually only can stomach half of but I ate the whole thing. As well as my pre-pasta salad and 2 delicious rolls. My theory on how that happened is that the whole "talk while eating dinner, you eat less because you take longer and get fuller on less" thing works opposite on me. Both men have half their meals for dinner tonight, so I have to find something for me. Easy to find food for one out of little bits of stuff.

Today, Jake was smart and came up to tell us he was eating earlier than the predicted 11, which was awesome of him because it meant we got to eat together. I had french toast, and I think the batter was low on vanilla, which was awesome because it meant it went well with ketchup. Mmm.

I think this afternoon we are going grocery shopping. And maybe tomorrow we are going to Ikea, but that is unknown for now because Jake might be working.

Cats on the lap make it hard to type.

Fun times! So did Sez-Dad come just for visits or did he have other purposes for coming as well? ~jo

Exploding calzone sounds interesting. Was it intentionally exploding or is that what it did accidentally? Your dad likes seafood whenever he can get it out, coz we don’t have it at home. *hugs to all*
