Cotton Candy Treason

On Wednesday, Jake and I went to Southington. Since the Ruby Tuesday closed at the mall, that is the closest to us, and we love that restaurant. We always go there for dates and birthday meals and such, any opportunity for a delicious turkey burger (for me) and all the other goodness available. We went this time because it is right next door to a Bed Bath & Beyond store and Jake had some xmas money he wanted to spend there. I had a coupon for free dip at Ruby Tuesday, an we got this amazingly delicious spicy queso. The thing I loved the most was that I could eat it with purple corn chips. I love purple food, it makes me so happy.

Another awesome thing, the dip wasn’t super filling so it didn’t prevent me from almost finishing my burger. I can’t remember the last time I managed to finish a burger from RT. It was definitely when it was still at the mall, and I think I have only finished it once. MAYBE twice. They aren’t that huge but they are so so filling. So I think we will be getting more dip next time. Mmm.

At BBB (heh) we got so many things that we wanted. We got a zester, a new silpad (my old one is still good, but kind of garlic-infused so this new one shall be exclusively cookie domain), a cake/pie server (thing to pick up slices of cake or pie. Before now I’ve just been using a knife, which I’m awesome at doing, but this is slightly more civilised and less… potentially stabby)… and most awesomely, a blender! Our old one was a hand-me-down from Nick and Stacy (they got married the day before we moved into our own apartment, so they had a lot of stuff they didn’t need because they got newer, better versions as wedding gifts. Awesome timing.) and it was pretty gross from day 1. The base of the ‘caraffe’ (as Jake called it, I can’t think what it is called) and the blade weren’t removable, so stuff could leak in but not get out. The tap on it broke ages ago, and recently the whole thing had started leaking. Now we have a beautiful, fully dismantable, powerful blender and that makes me happy. As soon as we got the new one in the apartment, the old one was tossed in the dumpster. Stupid crappy thing.

On the way home, we stopped off at Macy’s to get Jake a stainless steel pan, because that is what he really wanted. At BBB they only had big sets of pans, not individual ones, and we knew there were ones at Macy’s because we had looked a few weeks ago. So Jake got two new pans for pretty cheap and now he’s super happy and looking forward to making dinner tomorrow because he gets to use his new pan for the first time. I’m married to such a cute man.

On Thursday, we did nothing. This whole week has been an alternating acitivity week, so the T days were days off. The biggest thing we did all day was walk to the post office, where I found I the new pokemon game had been delivered, earlier than I was expecting, so that was a nice surprise. Such fun games. Like always, I’m trying to take my time through the main story but it’s hard because I always get sucked in and play many hours at once and it gets rushed through without me meaning to.

Friday morning, I found that part of the ceiling in the back room had collapsed. At the end of last month, it rained very heavily here and the ceiling back there dripped and cracked. It had slowly gotten worse, so I had moved our ficus out from underneath that section of ceiling, which was a good thing. Poor Bobert would have gotten squashed underneath the piece of plaster that fell. Bobert is now in the kitchen, which is weird and different but I think it’s good he’s there. He blocks the window a bit so we can’t see as much of the parking lot from our bathroom anymore, so that’s nice.

We were out in the world (doing laundry – which really messed with our minds as that is normally a saturday activity) so we went to gamestop because I had heard there was a new pokemon to download. Turns out it is over wifi rather than wireless, so I can get it anywhere there is wifi. Except, we don’t have wifi here. We went to Barnes & Noble so I could use the free wifi there, but I couldn’t get any of the 7 possible options to work. So we walked to thenearby McDonalds to try the free wifi there. Again, did not work. Tried again at the Maccas near the grocery store, failed AGAIN. Very sad, I really wanted that pokemon and now I can’t get it.

Oooh! Something else that is cool! My car’s cd player does not work anymore, so we are stuck listening to the radio. We pretty much only listen to the oldies station, because even when the music is crap on that station, it’s not ridiculously mind-drilling songs or full of autotune, so it’s the best option. On Monday when we went to New Haven, we heard "night fever" by the Bee Gees, which made me happy as I love the Bee Gees. On Wednesday on the way home from Ruby Tuesday, they played "Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ " which was even more awesome because it’s MJ and it has always been rare for me to hear MJ on the radio (except when there is a new song, then that is played a bit…). On Friday… "Billie Jean". Just what I needed to make me smile after some lack-of-Victini poutyness.

I’ve really really enjoyed the past week and a half, with Jake being on vacation from work. He goes back on Monday, which is sad because I’ll miss his constant presence by my side.

Title: I don’t know what I was saying, but Jake heard me say those words. I really wish I knew how.
