Freeze frame high five!
We went for a walk this afternoon, and there were pretty much no cars anywhere. I wanted to stand in the middle of Main Street and take a picture but my camera died soon after the above shot. The street going left to right is Main Street.
Jake and I have had an incredibly lovely thanksgiving. We started watching the most recent season of Dexter at 11am and we just finished at 10pm. I hate that there are 2 episodes still to go, but we won’t be able to see them for 6 weeks.
We didn’t watch tv constantly for 11 hours. We went for a walk around town and that took about an hour. Due to the complete lack of cars, we went up a hilly way that is not usually a safe way to walk. It is very windy, full of blind spots for cars and pedestrians, no sidewalks, and if you are walking up it against traffic, the only way to get out of the way of oncoming traffic is down a hill. So we only walk that way on thanksgiving and christmas, because there is noone out then. It’s fun, wandering around feeling like the entire town is ours. Although half the time it does feel like the ideal setting for a horror movie.
This boat is up the hill. It’s hard to tell because of all the leaves though, but the ground does slope down in this area. Every time I see this boat I wish I had my camera, because I just find it hilarious. Thankfully my camera died right after the picture, rather than before.
As we were entering zombie territory (aka the road with the cemetary on both sides) we actually saw another person, who was someone we know. Lisa Cassidy, who I hadn’t seen in a very long time, despite the fact she lives down the street and works at the store next to our home. I love seeing friendly faces that I actually know.
And then we ran right through the zombie area, until my shoe untied itself and almost fell off. And then we ran a bit more because I wanted to run down the slope in the road. I love running down hills, makes me think of home, and when we would run down the street we live on that is so steep, by the time we reached the driveway we had to reach out and grab a tree to pull us off the road before our bodies went too far forward to the point of falling. Ah, good times.
We finished up all the leftovers tonight, gravy and cranberry sauce included. So now we just have a bunch of leftover ingredients that I really can’t think of a tasty way to consume them. Ah well, only 2 more dinners to work out. Whatever we don’t use up I am going to give to Nick when he comes to take us to the airport on Sunday. SUNDAY! So close. So awesome. Tomorrow I have to make sure all the computer files are backed up on my USB thingies, and all my music is on my mp3 player. And pack the few more non-clothes things that we are taking. Clothes get packed Saturday afternoon. Other than that, I have nothing to do. Just wait. 2pm Sunday Nick will be here and we will be leaving for the airport. 6:30 Sunday we will be (hopefully) taking off. Not long now.
Weeeeeee can’t wait for some entries from Australia 😀
