MASCERATING!!!

I seem to like taking pictures of my hands lately.

This evening we watched the Good Eats episode on apple pie, while I was peeling and slicing a whole pile of apples so I can make a pie this weekend. Using the recipe from the episode we were watching. It is a good pie. The one issue I had last year was that the mascerating process was very slow. It calls for putting a bit of sugar on the apples and let sit for 90 minutes. Then the next step is to get the juice that has drained out and reduce it to about 2 tablespoons. Last year I let it mascerate for I think 3 hours? I had less than 2tbsp of juice at the end of that. We also had too much apples so some were left mascerating (I love that word, it is fun to type) for days and days and they were still good and crunchy when we made them into an apple crumble. So I have the apples in a bowl with some sugar to suck the juice out of them, and I will make a pie on Sunday morning.

I hate peeling apples, but I love covering myself with the stickers. Then I pretend I am a robot and the stickers are my controllable buttons. Such fun. Somehow I have managed to keep them all on even though I have washed my hands 5 times since playing with the apples. Yay, magic stickers!

I watched that one today too, I wanted to try it but put the crumble topping inplace of the crust.
