Like a little pig filled with cream cheese
My mum is here!! Yay!
And has been for a few days. It’s hard to want to write while she is here.
But I’m giving it a go.
With lots of spaces, because I feel like being spacious right now.
This picture came out even weirder than I thought it would. Not as cool as it looked while just marvelling at the spoon stuck to my thumb.
So… yes. Sunday morning Jake and I got up rather early – around 7:30 or quarter to 8. I forget, all I know is it was early for me for a regular day, let alone a Sunday! We relaxed as much as we could, waited for the clock to turn to 9:30. We went to the store to get some bbq rice crackers, because I was so excited about mum coming and nervous about driving to JFK that I couldn’t think of eating. Of course, they had every flavour but bbq, so that made me sad and hungry.
The 2 hour drive to the airport was easy and quick. Jake and I listened to music and enjoyed singing along with the nice sunshine all around us. And so many roads had been redone since we last went that direction almost 2 years ago, so that was a pleasant surprise.
We got to the terminal at… our parking ticket says 11:12am. It said mum’s plane had already landed, so we didn’t go to the Subway right there, instead we stood and waited for mum. About an hour later she came through, there had been some confusion about her fingerprints not matching the ones on file or something. Slightly amusing because of how I had to go and get fingerprinted twice early last year because I didn’t match my own fingerprints from a few years ago. Clearly we are just that talented, our fingerprints change.
We finally got back home at about 3, I think. It was a long time of driving for me. I wish Jake could drive, that would’ve made it less evil on my poor knee. I can’t remember the last time I drove that much. Was probably back in the train stalking days.
The rest of Sunday was spent watching NCIS pretty much. Mum falling asleep on the couch. Lovely and lazy time.
I want to post another picture to break up the words here, but mum won’t let me post the picture Jake took that first night because she thinks it is not a good one. And she reads this, so I can’t even say I’m not going to post it and then post it sneakily. So just pretend there is a nice photo here, ok?
Monday… up at 7 again. Today as well. Kinda nice, but it makes me VERY tired in the afternoon. Almost makes me want to drink coffee, but it doesn’t have an effect on me so there would be no point. We had ‘breakfast’ with Jake at 11:15, so there was a long time of being hungry and waiting for food. Even though I had juice and some yogurt not long after getting up, and that is my normal food routine (except I eat upstairs alone at about 11 rather than downstairs with my loved ones). Pancakes are SO GOOD. Plus I felt a bit like a rockstar, everyone was saying "Hi Sarah!!" and it made me smiley.
In the afternoon, mum and I wandered to the post office, and then because it was rather HOT AND GROSSLY HUMID we drove to the health food store to have a look around. Driving is just as gross by the way, my dark coloured car that sits in the sun all the time. Always grossly hot in there. And then once we were done there we went back to the Split Rail and shared a slice of pie (coconut cream that was… ok, rather than the apple that mum wanted but they didn’t have any more of) and Jake bussed our table and yes. Lovely.
This morning we were waiting for a package to be delivered. Mum’s friend ordered some inline skates and got them delivered here so shipping would be cheaper. We waited and waited and every little truck-like noise was making us check out the windows and… nothing. So 11:15 came around and we headed downstairs and at the bottom we ran into Jake with the packet of skates that had just arrived! So that was nice timing.
We met up with Jake’s mum Lisa and stepdad Matt and had breakfasty-lunch time of tasty. I had a turkey reuben with apple juice, because Pam served us and she didn’t ask what I wanted, she asked if I wanted apple juice and a turkey reuben, so I just said yes. I would have asked for OJ if she hadn’t suggested apple, but apple is the better choice with that amazing sandwich. And it was a GOOD sandwich. Oh…. yummy.
After eats we all (minus Jake who went back to work) came up here and just sat around talking and hanging out being nice and lazy. Was lovely. Jake finished work 3 hours later and that was all we had done. A few hours later, Lisa’s friend Michelle appeared and we all went out to dinner at the local italian place.
Which, I must say, was a bloody awesome time full of way too much tear-laughter… if there was such a thing. The funniest part was probably when they all started coming up with names for Jake and my future children. Ultra Violet, Maximum Strength, and then just for the fun of it… Sun Protection. So we are going to have kids named Ultra and Maximum apparently. Saying the name Maximum with our surname makes me choke on a laugh every single time. I’m not quite sure why, but oh MAN is it hilarious. The whole conversation stemmed from my saying to Lisa a few months ago that I like Violet for a middle name if we have a girl. She has apparently been trying to think of first names to match ever since. Of course, my mum thought of ultra straight away. Imagine someone named Ultra… heh.
Not sure what is in store for the rest of the week. Fun stuff probably. Even if it is just relaxing at home, hanging out with my mum, that is just so much lovely and I enjoy it greatly.
You seem like you are having a great time! Enjoy it!
