And we’re all alone…

Today has been such a lovely day. Full of much relaxing, some tasty food, and people I am glad to say are family.

Jake and I spent the morning and early afternoon the same way we spent the rest of this awesome 3-day weekend – lazing about, watching DVR’d stuff (almost exclusively The Simpsons and The Late Late Show), playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 (super fun game!) and… that’s about it.

There was the added fun of slicing the caramel slice into little squares. I am rather confused by that thing, it is no where near as sweet as it was last time. Last time, we had to cut it into tiny bitesize squares and one of those would be INTENSE and OVERWHELMINGLY SUGARY and almost too much. These are perfectly sweet, not too much. Nice and chewy. Lovely.

The topping is just the bits of the base that broke off as I cut it. Mmm…

We headed over to Nick and Stacy’s place at 4:30. While there, we pretty much just watched tv and ate. It was nice (if not a bit awkward for me… I felt like I should be making conversation but there was nothing for me to really talk about.) and the food was SO GOOD. There were tasty yummy burgers, and this really nice ‘summer slaw’ that surprised me with it’s tastiness. I have never liked coleslaw, so I was surprised that I liked this. I mean, yeah, it has been a long time since I have even had the opportunity to try it, but still. Pretty goodness. There was also hot dogs (that I had no interest in) and chicken that had marinated in bbq sauce. I’m rather sad that I didn’t get to try that, but one burger and I was full. It is not often that I wish I had an american sized stomach but that meal was one of them. Yumyum. I can still taste the burgers, which is lovely.

Dessert was the caramel slices, which everyone enjoyed. That made me feel really good. Stacy was very happy to keep the rest of them. I love when people enjoy stuff I make, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, like I’m wearing a jumper made of hugs. I am really glad my brain said jumper rather than sweater, if I had naturally thought ‘sweater’ I would have been disappointed in my americanized brain. Partially is ok, completely would not be. I must retain some aussieness.

This morning I discovered a song on my mp3 player that I hadn’t heard before. Tis awesome and I’ve been listening to it on repeat for at least 2 hours now. Heh… I get obsessive like that.

They look awesomely delicious. I’d like anything you make, make something for me and send it to me in the mail! 😛 haha Unfortunately I’m Australian with an American stomach 🙁 lol

that’s okay, i’ve been listening to ‘defying gravity’ from the Glee soundtrack obsessively. 🙂

Sounds like a great meal. And the caramel squares look yum!
