Lion-headed creamed corn

Yesterday, after the fun of laundering our clothes to a sparkle (if only! Not fair that dishes can sparkle clean but clothes do not. Although, I wouldn’t want to wear clothes that felt like plates.) and picking up some random candy (Jake needed to try the dark peanut butter cups, so I got a milky way. mmm, random candy), we came home DESPERATE for real food. We wanted turkey reubens. So we headed downstairs, only to be told they had SOLD OUT of turkey, because on Friday night they were open for dinner (they are never open for dinner! That’s the first time I know of) which is good for them, but I had to actually look at a menu and that’s just not right! After many many minutes of getting disappointed – everything that sounded tasty featured turkey – I decided on french toast for lunch. Which was consumed with ketchup, to make it lesss breakfasty. So there was much shocked-face when the lovely people working found out what was going on my french toast. And then when Jake’s fries were brought to the table a few minutes later, more shocked-face because my plate was bare. mmm.

After lunchables, we wandered down Main Street. On the street. So that was fun. There was a giant party going on, with a giant fake cake and everything.

There were  signs all down the street, telling whoever wanted to read all about the buildings back in the day. And there was cotton candy right outside the funeral home! But they just added fresh sugar as I arrived in that area, and I didn’t want to wait. The only reason I saw the cotton candy was because I wanted a picture of the old-timey hearse outside.

There were also a bunch of people dressed up old-timey near the post office. I think the BOOM every so often was coming from them loading and shooting their old-timey guns.

How many times can I say old-timey?

People were firing muscats (old-timey guns?)when we went to the heritage fair the day after we arrived in CT for the first time. Happy 350th birthday Woodbury!!! Boo-hiss that you couldn’t get turkey reuben.
