Certification Accomplished!

Dear Diary,

This afternoon was my appointment for the HR certification test that I’ve been preparing for.  I’ve been studying in ALL of my free time for the last 8 or so days which is why I haven’t been around here much.  Thankfully, it paid off!  I was going to be so disappointed in myself if I didn’t pass.  It was a 3 hour 175 question test.  It was in a controlled testing environment with no breaks allowed.  I finished in about 2 hours.  I spent another 1/2 hour reviewing some of my answers and then decided to submit my answers.  I was so, so relieved when it came back with a PASS.  The test only has about a 60% pass rate.  That had me nervous. Anyway, I now have my PHR Certification and I can move on with my life.

I’m hoping to have a really productive weekend.  It’s a weekend home.  I tackled quite a bit of yardwork this evening.  I also reorganized my clothing closets.  After the weekend I’ll have a 3 day work week and on Wednesday evening we head to the shore for 6 days.  My mom is coming to visit from TN and meeting us there.  She’ll return to PA with us for 8 days and then we’ll end our visit together with 5 more days at the shore.  We are all looking forward to the time with her.

Last weekend at the shore was perfect….. weather wise especially.  I was studying for the certification exam pretty heavy but at least I was doing in on the beach or poolside.  And it was all worth it since I got my pass!

Monday night we got home from the shore.  I ran right back out to get a mani / pedi and to do a quick catch up at the office after being away for a four day weekend.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I was away at De Sales University for a Safety Leadership Conference with other schools.  It was 2 1/2 days of solid safety talk.  I was studying in the bits of time between sessions and on my lunch during the conference, too.  They had entertainment planned for us in the evenings (Shakespear Festival and a baseball game) but I just went back to the hotel and buried my self in all things HR preparing for the test.  It was nice to be away from everything and have nothing to distract me from studying.  I think I got a lot more study time in than I would have if I spent the week in my office and then at home.  Reagan ended up having a low grade fever Monday night into Wednesday night.  He’s been fever free since then but yesterday and today he was pretty congested.  He didn’t go to camp at all this week.  Fortunately, Keith was able to keep him with him either at home or the office all week.  I was so thankful for that with being away for the conference.  I could have come home if needed but appreciate that Keith was able to keep Reagan with him.

I want to get a lot of cleaning and organizing done at home this weekend.  I want to wash all the windows in the house inside and out.  I also want to clean carpets.  I need to do some toy organization and remove Reagan’s toys that he has outgrown from his shelves.  I’d also like to take pictures in order to post some of the outgrown toys on Craigs list or Ebay.  Sunday we are invited to a couple of parties.  One is a birthday party for one of Reagan’s classmates.  The other is Fourth of July party at a neighbors.

I have a lot to accomplish at the office this week.  July marks the annualy pay increases for staff.  I need to get all of those input for Payroll.  We still have a couple of teaching positions that we’re working on filling, too.  I’ll be relieved when we have our hires finalized. 

Anyway…. work hard, play hard, test passed pretty much sums it up.
