SIX

Dear Diary,

Today is the big day! My baby turns six.

What does turning six look like in his little world?

We’ve been planning a little party for this weekend that he’s had an active role in by making decisions regarding venue, guests, themes, activities, etc.

Last night I brought all his wrapped gifts up from where I was storing and wrapping in the basement and displayed them in a pretty way while he was taking his nighttime bath.  His little face lit up when he saw what had been done for him.

I imagine he will want to open one when he wakes up today.  I hate to miss it but I left for the office while he was still asleep.  I told Keith that if he’s dying to open one he can.  Keith will take pics for me and then we can continue to celebrate this evening when we’re all together.

I asked Reagan what he would like for a special birthday dinner.  He chose steak and corn on the cob.  I shopped last night.  We’ll grill tonight.  I also picked out a small cake for us to share tonight on his actual birthday.  We will open a few more gifts tonight.

Most of his day today will be spent at his summer day camp.  He’s going to make his tie dye shirt for when they go on field trips.  There is a field trip planned for today to the local bowling alley.  I sent him in a tie dye shirt he made during this past school year.  Last night at the store I picked up mini cup cakes and Eddy’s fruit bars to celebrate his birthday at camp with his friends this afternoon.  When I leave for my meeting I hope to stop by the bowling alley on the way to see him, wish him a Happy Birthday and take a few bowling pictures.

I have a healthcare meeting today and couldn’t take off from work for his actual birthday.  I’m taking off tomorrow though.  We are going to check out the new Lego Discovery Center in Westchester /Yonkers NY.  It just opened this spring and looks pretty fun.  He will get to pick the lego set of his choice while at the store there.

Since our birthday celebration is continuing from Wednesday through Saturday I plan to let him open a gift or two a day Wed – Sat.  I think there are 10 wrapped gifts total from Keith and I.

Saturday is the party with friends and family.  We’re having it at a (very) local ice cream parlor and mini golf place.  I’m expecting about 8 kids and a dozen adults.  I’ve finished the goody bags and have made some pennant type banners.  They’ll have lunch and ice cream at the location but I think I’ll still add cupcakes to the mix.  A birthday party without cake just doesn’t seem right.  I still need to finalize some things like balloons.  He’s chosen an Angry Birds theme for the party day.  Not my first choice but the thing about six is they have ideas and plans of their own.  It’s working out fine.

Immediately following the birthday bash on Saturday we head to a baseball game with Scouts.  The kids will tailgate prior to the game.  The scouts will do a pre game parade.  They get to be on the field for the National Anthem.  Regan will get to watch his first real baseball game.  Following the game the scouts are all camping in the stadium for the night.  I’m heading home at that point but Reagan and Keith will stay.  I think it’s a nice transition into Father’s Day.

Which is another day to plan for.  I have a small gift and card for Keith so far.  Reagan is making him a key chain at camp.  For the grandpa’s I have cards set.  I need to put my Dad’s in the mail this morning.

I have a bunch of new scrap to share.  The tropical storm made for a wet weekend which is perfect for scrapping.  It, unfortunately, put a damper on the shore weekend plans but we had a nice weekend at home in spite of that.  Hopefully later today I’ll be back with scrap page layout pics….

Happy birthday Reagan! Hard to believe he’s 6 already. There’s something about little boys and Angry Birds – my nephews (5 and 7 years old) are obsessed with them!

Happy Birthday to Reagan and MOM! I always feel like their birth day is a special day for me too. An awesome anniversary of the day we met our child.

It boggles my mind that he’s SIX. Wow. Happy Birthday Reagan!
