Weekend Review *pics*

Dear Diary,

Last week I had worked a couple of hours in advance in anticipation of leaving the office as school let out on Friday.  All fell into place with that and Reagan and I were on our way to the shore at 3.  It takes just under 3 hours to make the drive.  Once in the area we did a quick grocery shop to get ice, drinks, a few things to pack beach lunches, etc.  This is part of our normal routine each beach weekend.

We arrived at the new beach camper just a bit after 6 and took it all in.  The owners made a really nice choice.  The main, mid area is much more spacious.  The living, dinning, kitchen area is all one room and much more spacious feeling.  The path through the old camper felt pretty narrow and this one feels very open.  To one end of the camper is a bedroom with a queen sized bed and two night stands.  On the other end of the camper is a restroom (sink on one side and then shower / toilet combo on the opposite side and then just past that is a "bunk house" with two sets of bunk beds.  So, it sleeps 8 comfortably.  Sometimes we are three but usually it is just Reagan and I.  I went through some of our beach things from last year and tucked things into their new storage compartments.  I was starting to feel more settled in.

This is the only picture I took of the camper… I’ll have to take more on future visits…..

The next morning we left early and had breakfast at the little restaurant within the community where we stay.  I discovered last year that they have THE BEST pancakes.

We also stopped by Kmart to pick up a few things we wanted for the camper.  Reagan picked out a couple of birthday gifts for parties coming up this coming weekend and then again in a few weekends.    We spent the day on the beach in Rehoboth.  It was in the 60s but we found our spot in the sunshine and stayed plenty cozy.  We spent about 4 or 5 hours on the beach each day this weekend.  Not bad for April!

My little beach bum got right into sand play….

He started off the day in pants…. we rolled them shortly after hitting the beach…

And it wasn’t long until we switched him into his swim trunks…

The tide would come in from time to time and leave a small body of water that was a fun place for the kiddos to play…

It wasn’t really quite warm enough for play like this but it is hard to tell a 5 year old that….

I enjoyed watching him have a good time from the warmth of my beach chair…

He made two or three friends each day on the beach which was nice.  I’m interested to see if that continues all summer.  He seemed to invite others to play easily and become fast friends.  He made it look easy.  I was a shy kid and I still am more content to keep to myself so it amazes me a bit to see him socialize.

He’s full of personality…..

In between friends he really plays well solo, too.  It was fun to watch him sail his little boats in that body of water…..

Reagan and a couple of friends built a castle a bit down the beach from where I was sitting.  Once his friends had to leave I offered to move closer to it and he immediately took me up on that offer and moved his toys and the beach blanket down the beach…

He had a few dinosaurs and was making caves in the mountain…

That evening we went out for fish and chips at Go Brit!  I’ve wanted to try it for awhile.  I had a soft shell crab which is always a treat.  Reagan got a basket of chicken and fries.  It was all good.  Very fried though so it isn’t a place we’ll frequent but it was a nice treat.

There was a cute Mini just inside…  Reagan had picked out a new Lego set and brought it into the restaurant to work on.

We also made a trip to Home Depot that evening.  I got some flowers to add to the planters I fill at the camper.  I also got some topsoil at the request of the owners.  They had laid new water and electric lines when they moved the new camper in and there were a couple of trenches that needed filling.  I put down some fresh grass seed in the site, too.  I’m not sure if it will take.  The other purchase they asked me about making was some type of counter top extension to lay over the stove burners.  I wasn’t sure what I’d find but I ended up with a 20 x 20 piece of ceramic tile that I backed with adhesive cork.  It looks nice and didn’t cost much.

The next morning I stained the deck, picnic table and the campfire "furniture".  So, several projects got done!

I also know what to expect as far as the camper goes.  I plan to bring down the area rugs I used in the other camper and maybe the bath accessories.  I feel like we are in good shape to slip into our every other weekend beach routine now.

After packing up on Sunday we spent a good 4 or so hours on the beach….

Do you like Reagan’s new beach hat?

Happy Boy!

We spent Sunday at Cape Henlopen….  Either Friday or Saturday night I did a self pedicure.  I’d like to add this to my every other weekend beach routine.  Last year I had most pedicures at the salon which is nice but it will save me about $50 a month to just do it myself.  Seems more responsible….

Love this boy!

These shorts are 18 mos – 24 mos.. *laughs*  They finally fit in the waist but are now a bit snug through the hiney and leg.  They’ve been mixed in with his beach stuff for about 4 years now but I think it’s time to retire them…

I think he found a new favorite beach treat.  He picked a two pack of birthday cake jello pudding with sprinkles while at the grocery store…

I’ll need to get pics of the camper in the site to share but here are a few from the dealerships website in the meantime….

Kitchen…. It’s the black stove top area that I got a 20" x 20" tile for and it basically gives more counter space…

This is right across from the entryway and kitchen…

Bath area…

Bunk house…

Entertainment center and then looking into the main bedroom.

I feel pretty good about the new "home away from home" arrangement….

The new camper sounds nice! We used to camp all the time as kids (in a pullout camper, not a nice fancy one!). Maks me miss it!

ryn: thanks. I think the interview went well, but we shall see. He could have been working sooner, but it was during winter and we weren’t going up to cold weather…lol We did that a couple yrs ago for 2 yrs in a row and got tired of the cold and snow. Maybe from Christmas til New Years and then that is enough for me lol Love the beach pix, might have to hit the beach soon.

I love that you are able to have beach weekends! It is kind of magical and lovely. The new camper is looking good! I’m excited to see all the touches you add. Ashley
