Time with Family *pics* (Vaca #19)
Dear Diary,
When we finished or day at Universal we made the drive to the High Desert and to my childhood home I livedi n this home from about 4 to 17 years old. I graduated and moved half way across the country at 17 and I’ve never lived close again. I’ve just continued to move further away… OK to OH to PA.
Anyway, within the last couple of years my Dad has moved out of my chlldhood home but my little brother has moved in with his wife. The home is in a weird limbo. There are some decor items that have been there all my life and others that are new from my brother and his wife.
I had not seen my brother in over 11 years. I’m not sure how so much time passed. We were really close growing up. He is 8 years younger than me and he was like my very own live baby doll at first and quickly became my litle buddy. I almost always included him in where I was going or what I was doing.
11ish years ago is when our older brother passed. That year just prior my little brother graduated in June, our big brother passed in July and then later that summer my mom and little brother came to visit me in OH. We both are in agreement that there are no hard feelings. Time just got away.
I’ve mentioned that this trip was the first time Reagan and my Dad met, too. I had not travelled to CA for 6 years. Anyway….. It was special for me to have these three on the same couch!
My little brother, (Ike / Isaac) was awesome with Reagan. He set him up wih a Lego Batman game that came with his X-Box And Reagan enjoyed my Dad’s giant TV….
This is my brother’s wife, Alaina. (They have been a couple since about 14 / 15 years old. They are almost 30 now)
This is Oscar… he’s a Great Pyranese / Irish Setter mix. He looks like a giant Golden. Really pretty! He’s not allowed on the couch. But when his mom left and is dad took a shower he curled up….
Oscar…
Willow….
Mystic…
This is their cat, too…
This is a drawing by my older brother. My little brother now has it tatooed on his arm. For the record, I’m not a tatoo fan but it is sort of neat he chose something of Jakes (big brother)
This is a ranch style home…. three beds, two baths down the hall and then one large room for kitchen, dinning and living area…
Reagan playing outside with the pups…
Oscar, Alaina, Ike and Reagan…
Reagan and my Dad playing Lego Batman….
I used the timer to get one of all of us…
We stayed for a couple of days and then headed back down to my Dad’s new place in Mexico…
Back in Rosarito Beach…
Some pics of my Dad’s place… You’ll see the little Airbnb tags. He has it listed as apotential rental on that site…
The back porch…. There is a little rooftop patio, too….
view from the roof top….
A welcome plaque on the back patio…
There is a chimenea on each patio….
Livingroom….
Dad’ little corner tiki bar in the livingroom. It is just inside from the patio….
There is a fireplace in the livingroom, too…
Kitchen…
Kitchen into little dinning nook……
His room….
his bath…
Spare bedroom….
The previous owners of my Dad’s place had a son so the spare room has a motorcycle border in it. My Dad has put a couple of the model ships he has built in there, too…
The previous owners sold the place furnished and decorated so there are a lot of things hanging on the walls that came with the place but my dad has started to mix in some of hs own stuff. These are some of his military things…. He was a dog handler in the Marines during the Vietnam War era….
This is the guest bath…
There are some fun plates that the previous owners left. And there is a ton of sun decor…

That night we made chicken, rice and salad at my Dad’s. We had my aunt over and we all played Yahtzee.
Sunday was our last full day of vacation… What I Wore… I happen to be wearing this today. The above outfit I wore yesterday…
My dad had a little plaque that the previous owners left behind. He wanted it to say "My Place in the Sun" in Spanish. I helped him with that project on my last day there…

How did your brother pass? I’m sorry to hear he did. I can’t imagine the pain of that loss. I love the family photo. What a priceless gift! Your dad’s place, right on the beach…that is my dream home. Your photos made me long to go “home” to the beach. I haven’t been there in I don’t even know how long. Maybe that’s where I can find my hope again. Great shots! Great memories! Thanks for sharing!

Your Dad’s place is too cute. I have never in my life had a desire to go to Mexico, but your pictures have made it look quite appealing!

When you lived in OH, where were you located? I love the pictures of the big dogs; they are so beautiful, especially Mystic. And I loved the pictures you took of your dad’s place, he has a very nice place! Enjoyed the pictures!

I love these photos of your dad’s, bro’s, and aunt’s homes. So all unique and cute. I remember you saying you had an older brother but never knew you had a younger one. It must’ve been so hard on everyone when your older brother passed, I’m sorry.
