Universal Studios Hollywood *pics* (Vacatiom #18)

Dear Diary,

Alright…. I’m starting to get tired of my vacation pictures. I’m almost done here…  (Keep in mind that I’ve been scrapping them in my free time, too.  I’m very bonded with these memories!)

Welcome to Universal Studios!

My Dad and Reagan by the entrance fountain…

Woody Woodpecker!

And as you know well by now, we have to stop and study the map with Reagan….

My Dad was excited to spot Marilyn.  He has a neighbor friend who is a big Marilyn fan.  He wanted a picture to show her.

I thought all the sets had a cool feel!

You can see Reagan eyeing up the souvenir penny machine to the right in the below picture.  We did end up getting a Sponge Bob souvenir penny here…

We met Sponge Bob!!

A group shot!

Beetle Juice!

I love this scene with Reagan at the jack hammer!

A Flintstones area….

There was a very cool Shrek show and then a couple of photo opportunities near by….

Donkey selling his Donkey Waffles!

Meeting Shrek!

Some Shrek stage doors…

Reagan, Grandpa and JAWS!

A Simpson’s area….  Reagan knows nothing about this show.  It would be way to rude and grown up for him.  Keith likes it.  It doesn’t do much for me.  I snapped a couple of pics but we didn’t get too involved.  I can just hear Reagan telling me to "Eat His Shorts"…. no thanks….

The Kwik E Mart….

Views of Los Angeles as we go from the Upper to Lower lots…

A panoramic….

There is a system of escalators that take you between the two lots…

Looking back up at the escalators…

Reagan enjoyed them…

The Jurrasic Park ride…

Taking in the Jurrasic Park area…

The Jurrasic Park boats…

Big Dino!

With big claws…

There was a Dino Play area for kids…

Digging for fossils….

Monkeying around….

Reagan is a Transformers fan so we were looking forward to this part of the park….

Optimus Prime!

and with Reagan….

This ride was very intense! I was on sensory overload…  I’m more of an "It’s a Small World sort of girl"  but I was a good sport for my boy….

Getting a Universal Studios / Transformers souvenir penny….

He also got to pick his larger souvenir in this part of the park….  It was a K-nex / Transformer building set…

Bumble Bee!

With mommy….

Reagan in "Dogers Stadium"….

A Curious George play area….

Curious George was VERY CURIOUS about what was in Reagan’s bag….

Reagan had to help him get it out of the bag…. George was all thumbs…

It was a sweet, happy interaction…

Followed by a very sweet photo!

Another view of the Curious George Play area next to the Shrek area…  Flinstone’s area is just behind where I’m standing.

Frankenstein!

Pretty fun!

This was another very special meeting! Reagan really likes Scooby right now….

Grandpa happened to be wearing his Scooby shirt so he HAD to be included, too!

Reagan with the Blues Mobile…. We took this one for Keith.  He loves this movie…

An Londand set….

<div class="zoomPicturePreviewDiv”>

I have to lead into a funny story with this next one.  Have you seen the people who paint themselves up like metallic statues?  While I was sure this was one.  I was telling my Dad about them.  He was convinced it was fake.  I was sure it was real.  Well, Father knows best….. some kid thumped on this one and it was hollow….

A few minutes later we come upon this guy.  And Reagan was mimicking me saying, "Hey Mommy, This guys real…. go ahead and touch him."  Little Stinker…  He does have a really good sense of humor.  He likes to laugh and joke.

Mel’s Diner!

A Paris set…

We watched an Animal Actor’s show… see the bird to the right…

How in the world do you train guinnea pigs?!

Little sets…

I was able to redeem myself just a bit before leaving the park.  In that statue / fountain that Dad and Reagan posed by at the start was one of those live bronze statues guy.  This one would change poses slightly to make it obvious he was real.  But my Dad and Reagan were able to see what I was talking about.  It’s the guy standing on the right…

The End…

Oooh! Those were fun! I’ve never been to universal! I know you’re probably sick to death of your vacation pictures (especially since you’ve been scraping them too) but I’ve been enjoying them!

Very cool!

The pictures with curious george melt my heart!

Kailey was SO jealous when she saw the photos of the SpongeBob store! LOL And trained guinea pigs?? Wow. I wonder who the first person was who said, “I think I should try to train a guinea pig to do tricks!” LOL

RYN: NG is a forester by education and training. At some point he decided he had had enough and retired. Now he works part-time at the university in the athletic department as an usher, for lack of a better word. He’s one of those people that stands around and makes sure people don’t come down onto the floor or out on the field or wherever people are not supposed to go. He likes the job because he can see all the games. He works football (where he is assigned to the suites which is a nice perk), mens basketball, soccer and lacrosse and graduations. He is one of our town council members. That’s the constituent thing.

For some reason I really love the idea of this park! The excitement and slight crazy fun is so great. Ashley
