Disney’s CARSLAND *Pics* (Vaca #14)

Dear Diary,

Continuing on with California Adventure pictures….  We were just leaving the Pacific Wharf / Paradise Pier area and entering CARSLAND!  I was so excited!

The entryway from the backside at Pacific Wharf…

The rock formations they have created are amazing!  Love how they replicate car bodies and parts!

You see all of this as you just walk in from this back side….

Radiator Springs Racers is back in this area and I caught a couple of racers cresting the hill…

Some of the "businesses"…

Entering Radiator Springs Racers…

There was a lot of hoopla about the Radiator Springs Racers lines.  The advice was to get in line for a Fast Pass as you start your day.  We arrived at the park about a half hour early.  They let you into the park to a certain point early.  Already, a half hour early, there were thousands in line for a Fast Pass.  I wasn’t going to start our day like that.  Instead we wandered on our way and did pretty much all you saw in the first two CA Adventure entries before we even got to Carsland.  I think it was about 3 when we entered Carsland.  The Radiator Springs Racer wait said 50 minutes….. not the end of the world.  We got in line.  It took about 45 minutes.  Our longest wait for anything prior to this at Disney or other parks had only been a half hour and we only had to do that a couple times.  All in all the crowds were low.  AND, they give you cool things to look at and photograph while in line anyway…

I thought these bottle walls were very cool!

Another view of this beauty…

Our racer!

All in a row…

Reagan and Dad…

You begin with a tour of Radiator Springs…

And get peeks of all the characters along the way….

Flo’s V* Cafe…

Filmore…. and some guy in a green beret….

Dark, but Mater and Lightning…

After touring Raditor Springs you end with a high speed race…  Fun!

On our way out…

And another pic of the skyline because it never gets old…

Reagan with a Tin Lizzie statue…

Dad on Route 66…

Approaching Luigi’s….

LOVE this planter!

Time for Luigi’s Flying Tires!

You enter through his tire shop… Casa Della Tires…

Again, more cool things to entertain yourself with in line…

Looks like fun!

Some guidance on how to steer…

A family pic in the Flying Tire….

Cool topiaries…

The never ending details are amazing!

Do you see all the circles on the floor?  Air is forced up through those.  Your tire is also blown up…. like a big fabric covered inner tube.  The forced air sort of makes your tire float.  This was unexpected but very cool.  And then, like the sign said, you lean as a group to steer the tire.  I was expecting more of a fast moving bumper car type experience.  It is a bit different than that.

Exiting…

A peek at Red….

Moving on to the Cozy Cone….  There are a series of cone shaped vendors selling different treats….  For example…. PopCONE….

Does that say Cone Queso?  Nachos maybe…..  I just noticed each cone has it’s own antenna…. cute!

Reagan and Grandpa got cones!  I didn’t get my own because I didn’t think Reagan would finish his.  He didn’t and I ended up with a bit, too….

They were at an adorable table like this…. Look at the street lights, too…

The sign out front the motel…

And look who is out front! squee!

I was wandering a bit while they ate their ice cream cones…

Lightning’s backside….

Flo’s V8 Cafe…

Tables off to the side, among the pumps…

From here you can see Flo’s.  Ramones is behind Flo’s on the Right.  Luigi’s is on the corner to the left and ahead.  We are at an intersection here.  Radiator Springs Racers is straight ahead…

A broader shot of Luigis…

Ramone’s….

A giftshop along side the Cozy Cone Motel on Route 66….

Returning back to the Cozy Cone where Dad and Reagan are finishing their ice cream cones…

That is the lobby / check in to the left…

A fountain out front…

Look at this cutie patootie!

Visiting with Lightning Mc Queen…

pure awesomeness!

Mommy wanted in on the action, too!  Looks who is coming up behind!

Lightning hits the road…

Mater takes his spot greeting visitors…

Mater’s hook!

Reagan with a baby tractor!

Tow Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree!

Along the line for the Junkyard Jamboree there are momento’s from Mater’s Tall Tales…. so fun!  We love that DVD and have spent a couple summers at the shore collecting Diecast Maters in all of his different rolls / costumes….

<br />

None of this means much if you haven’t seen Mater’s Tall Tales… if you haven’t I recommend watching it… funny stuff!

The Jamboree…

It sort of has a whip like feel while in the little trailors behind the baby tractors…

Filmore’s!

A very cool snack stand…

Not the best angle but this is Sarge’s Surplus Store…

Sarge’s that evening…

Reagan picked out this cool little model set where you assemble a Radiator Springs Racer that is just about the size of a matchbox car when finished.  Right up his alley.  He likes to build stuff.  Also very cool because it is a souvenir so specific to here….

We came and went a few times from Carsland during the afternoon and evening…

The signs as you exit Radiator Springs into Bugs Land…

We had left to make sure to catch the Pixar Play Parade.  Later in the eveing we passed the true, main entrance to Cars Land…

Route 66 just after dark….

My neon sign picture taking leaves a lot to be desired!

But… these give you an idea of how cool it lights up at night!

Look how the Cozy Cone glows!

One last look back at Carsland….

I think they did an incredible job with this area of the park…. Pure.Disney.Magic!  I get such a kick out of it…..

In my next entry I’ll try and wrap up the California Adventure pictures…. There’s a parade, Bugs Land and the evening World of Color show over Paradise Pier left.  After that I just have a few pics of visiting my little brother and his wife in my childhood home and then back to the beach in Rosarito, Mexico.  I photographed a lot of details at my dad’s little place on the beach.  Then we can move on with our lives….

Happy Thursday! Bring on the four day weekend!  I’m pretty excited over my Easter morning plans for Reagan this year!

I love this! I loved the movie so much. Colin was so little when this came out. Have a great holiday weekend!

Loving all your Disney entries! You know I’m a big Disney parks person but one thing I don’t do is the whole Fast Pass thing. But I really think going to get a ticket to ride a ride before you actually start doing rides is kinda dumb. I prefer to stay at a Disney resort and use my extra time in the parks to stay ahead of the crowd.

Really love all the photos you took!! I think they did a GREAT job on Carsland and while I’m still torn between going to Disneyland this winter and seeing all the Fantasyland changes in Florida…I’m leaning towards Disneyland because it just looks so different!!

What a fun trip!! I want to book one now! 😀

March 29, 2013

Now that is awesome!!! I would LOVE to go there with Tristan. He’d just be over the moon! Thanks for sharing all those pictures.

March 29, 2013

how fun! My boys would LOVE to go to this!

March 29, 2013

RYN: Personally I’d wait to go to Paris until the new sections open. From what I’ve seen both the new additions to Fantasyland in Florida and Carsland at Disneyland it would be worth adjust plans if possible I think.

Wonderful pics to scrapbook! Have fun!

I love when the park can really recreate that kind of feeling! Love love love it! This is definitely going on my list. Ashley

I’ve never heard of Carsland. I love the retro looking signs! Some of those rock formations remind me of Bryce.

So fun!!!! I love Mater! I love to talk like him too! When I photographed kids and Cars was huge, they’d have a Cars shirt on or shoes and I’d just make over them like they just won a million bucks! They loved it!! And I’d always tell me my favorite is Mater!! 🙂 Very very cool! did the cars talk? 🙂
