Annoying Revelations

I’ve had two annoying revelations this week. The first one has to do with my baby girl Jasmine. Her back legs are not all that strong and she sometimes has a hard time walking which is not surprising given that in ‘people years’ she is 104! So actually she is doing amazingly well! However, stairs do her in. She insists on going upstairs but cannot get down and with her being 70 pounds, I can’t just pick her up and carry her down and inevitably she will fall – which in turn makes it even more difficult for her to walk.

So we redecorated. The basement door remains firmly shut and the stairs leading to the 2nd floor are blocked by a footstool and a step stool. Not much in the way of aesthetics, but it works! lol.

Last week we had a bad thunder and lightening storm. The bathroom she usually sleeps in has no windows so we thought she’d be fine since she is a wimp when it comes to storms. When she walked into our bedroom, we started laughing because in her panic, she must have somehow shoved the stools out of the way to get upstairs to us. But in the morning, the stools were right where we left them! I was mystified.

That was until I caught her halfway up the next day and once again the stools had not been moved! I was standing there trying to figure out how she did it when I spotted the fur and paw prints on the carpeted stairs…this little brat had gone in through the banister rails on the side! *defeated sigh* It’s always something with this one! So I redecorated again. Now I have the heavy metal plate we put under the Christmas tree leaning up against the railing. It’s not really a very nice first impression when you walk in, but what the hell. It goes with the rest of the house! LOL!

The other revelation took place in my last class yesterday. Dennis has 4th period planning and will usually stop by whatever class I’m covering to just check in and visit. While he was in there we got talking to the kids and one of them wanted to get a tattoo for her 18th birthday. I was trying to talk her out of it or at least to get it somewhere easily covered up when she asked if I had tattoos. I said yes, but I had gotten them when I was 40. When she asked how old I was now, I said 47. Cuz, ya know, I AM! Or so I thought anyway!

In another conversation in the class, Dennis had mentioned he was turning 49 next month. I looked at him in confusion and said "Don’t you mean you’ll be 48?" He said no and that I was 48 not 47. I thought about it for a minute and realized he was right! Damn!

Damn damn damn! I’m too old to be losing years!!!  So, yes, I’m 48. *yet another defeated sigh* But at least I got the date right when Dennis asked me to tell the kids what our anniversary was!

ha ha ha How cute is that, about your furbaby! And I love the story about your age. I did the same thing about mine… sighs. AND about our anniversary this year. Wes JUST corrected me, with a raised brow no less, yesterday… another sigh… *grin*

Poor Jasmine. I didn’t know that you had a tattoo. What & where is it? Yup, you’re getting old when you start forgetting how old you are. LOL love & hugs

Sigh, we decorate around our furbabies too! 😀

I have done the age thing too…maybe we should stop counting after 21? Or just have a birthday every five years so you could say…a little over 45.
