I’m trying to be patient.
After all, the old gal is about 105 in people years and her two daily walks are the only times she gets to go out, so if she wants to spend an hour sniffing the air and wandering through the woods, then so be it. However, patience is at a premium when she insists we go out before the sun is even up and it’s about 30 degrees out! Brrr!
By the way, did you know that ‘brrr’ is in the Scrabble dictionary as a word?! I’ll have to remember that one! lol. Yes, we are still addicted to the game and if it’s a weekend with nothing pressing, we can spend all day playing – and calling each other names for taking a certain spot on the board. Luckily neither of us takes it personally! LOL!
Back to Jasmine though. She has really been on an upswing lately. She actually has been ‘prancy’, which is dangerous for her because she loses her balance and falls if she doesn’t watch herself. Sheesh! Dennis mentioned that it might be because we changed her food and I think he might be right. They didn’t have the senior food I usually buy last time so we got her regular adult formula and her tummy was always gurgling. She didn’t really like the food so it took a long time for her to go through it. But when Dennis picked up food for her last week, they not only had the senior formula but it was 2 for 1 so she is stocked for awhile. However, she is gobbling it up like crazy and she certainly feels better, that’s for sure.
Alley Cat on the other hand is not doing so well. The tumor is growing and her appetite is waning. If you were to cut a third off of a baseball and stick it to her throat and jaw and cheek, that’s about the size of her tumor. Not to mention the tumor on her upper lip. She sleeps probably 23 hours a day now. Either in her blanket ‘nest’ on the sofa or if we have a fire going, she will lay in front of that. She is still eating though, but we don’t expect her to make it through the month, poor baby. This is a good picture of her, I won’t take one of the way she is now the poor thing.
I have another picture of her that always makes me laugh, but I can’t find it. She is laying on the dirt in a planter and you almost can’t tell it’s her and not the dirt because of her coloring except for her tail hanging out! So cute!
So I have been off for 2 weeks now! I wasn’t expecting to be but with finals and reviews and all, there just weren’t any sub jobs out there. I did have one job but it got canceled at the last minute so I have been doing things around the house. We got every smidge of Christmas put away, so what did we do? We found a 75% off Christmas stuff sale at WalMart last weekend and hauled home $160 worth of MORE Christmas stuff for only $40! Woohoo! What a coups! You can never have too much garland or too many lights or extension cords we say! Or storage boxes for it either I guess! LOL!
And yes Patty, since we are stuck here for another 18 months, I have decided to enjoy the upgrades until then. I have made the curtains for the kitchen already and am working on the ones for the family room sliders. But that’s another post until I get them done and have pictures. They are giving me fits at the moment though and the sooner I get back to them the better!
By the way, this post is dedicated to Littlefeather š She is new to OD and told me I should update because she missed me! Awww…hugs to you Carole!
Thank God Alley Cat is able to sleep and not be in pain. It is so sad when they go…I love my pets so much.

I’m sorry about your cats! At least the one seems to be doing well. I have a cat named Alley Cat too. A dog I had back in high school had a tumor on her nose and it was just awful. Her teeth started falling out… poor thing. We had to put her to sleep. Very sad. If your cats get sick and ever stop eating… one thing we’ve done before is canned clams. Got them eating again when they were old.

I’m sorry to hear of your pets health. My first baby cat had an internal tumor that enveloped her organs. In the end we had to let her go. Very sad, I hope neither of your pets suffer thru these stages. Getting old is hard for people and animals. Have fun with the curtains and definately post photo’s when you’re done.

Poor Alley. And Jasmin is quite the old girl. I’m glad that she doing better now that she had the senior food. They are both so beautiful. I hope that you find that picture of Alley Cat laying in the dirt of a planter. š Enjoy your time off! Love & Hugs, Val ps…did you read my entry about Srabble. It’s interesting. Check it out when you have a chance. And yes…the hair-do I had for mywedding was quite the thing…and I kept it in for a few days by using lots of hairspray and wearing a net at night!!!

Oh Gawd…I so understand your memory! Like mine. š I met Sandy in 1992 at a meeting. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t think of her. I miss her so much. I have those 2 pictures I posted out so that I can see her. She really was the best friend I have ever had. Like a sister. xo
