Today I had ENOUGH!

I couldn’t take it anymore. These kids in school were making me miserable with their whining and excuses and noise noise NOISE! So, as Dennis says, I heard the angels sing (you know, like when dawn breaks on Marblehead? lol) and I just decided enough was enough and I got tough. And I wasn’t even a bitch about it. I just told them it wasn’t my problem if they didn’t listen to find out what they needed to bring to class, and I didn’t stand there debating with them over why this or why that, and yes I was collecting the workpapers even if their teacher never did and by God they were going to be QUIET!! They finally got the message and did things my way and classes all went very nicely!

I was very very surprised at one thing though. The kids actually started talking and conversing with me! I guess I had let the handful of whiners take over so much that the majority of the classes just couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Anyway, I do believe I will make it and I no longer dread going in or hearing about other long term jobs the school is already lining up for me. So that is good, in fact, that is awesome and a HUGE relief since we really do need the money.

The bad news is that our kitty, Alley is sick and we will probably lose her soon. A few weeks ago her mouth started swelling and I thought she had just gotten into yet another cat fight and waited for the swelling to go down. But it didn’t go down, in fact it started getting really big and sore. Her mood and behavior didn’t change at all though. Even her appetite was the same. Still, it was obvious she needed medicine so when Dennis got paid last Thursday, we took her right in on Friday. It had been about 5 weeks then, but if there’s no money even for groceries, there’s certainly no money for a Vet’s appointment.

So $90 later (ouch!) we came away from the Vet’s with the sad news that the ‘infection’ is really a cancerous tumor and that it had spread to her lymph node. I was mortified that I had waited too long to bring her in, but the Vet just shook her head and told us that these types of tumors are rarely caught in time. It seems this type grows very slowly and are practically unnoticeable until they start to ‘explode’, and when they do, it is already too late. Since this one started inside her mouth, there was no way we would have noticed it in time.

It never occurred to me that we would lose her first even though she and Jasmine are both 16 1/2 years old. She just never really slowed down at all or had any health problems like Jasmine did. In fact Jasmine was so bad a few weeks back that we told Alysia if she had any warm and fuzzy feelings for her and wanted to see her again, she’d better visit that weekend. Even Dennis was convinced she wasn’t going to make it. After all, the chart at the vet’s puts her at 102 people years as opposed to Alley’s ‘mere’ 82! But in the end, Jasmine has bounced back to her old self once again and it is Alley that has only a month to a year, and I think the vet was just being nice saying she might have up to a year. This thing is still growing despite the two prescriptions she gets every day.

This darn cat is annoying and a pain, but so were our kids and we love them all too! LOL! After all, she is OUR pain and we will miss the demanding annoying little brat. For now though, she stays inside and enjoys her tuna every day that I hide her medicine in to get her to take it, and I let her get away with climbing up for cuddles anytime she wants now instead of once in awhile so she is contented for now:)
