Synecdoche, New York
The DVD and soundtrack have arrived. Some of you who were in contact with me when Chibi-R and I went and saw it twice in print may remember that it’s the first film I considered giving 11 in that irrational, better than everything else way. After cooling down a little, I of-course remind myself that all of my tens are very different films, and it would be impossible to say that any one is better than any other.
Bless the Americans for shipping this to me when it’s only just finished its theatrical run locally; the DVD was actually released ‘States-side in March, but at that point I still hadn’t seen it, I’m fairly certain it released sometime after that. Still, I could have had the DVD within weeks of our first viewing in print.
I may try and organise a showing at my place with Chibi-R, Kate and her partner soon. It’s an intimate room and I would like to keep the numbers low. I am happy to organise viewings, however for the moment I will not be lending it out until I’ve burnt every frame into my memory from repetition.
