Inland Empire | David Lynch
How on earth could I have forgotten to write about Inland Empire???
Chibi-R and I saw it two weekends ago, and it was absolutely mind-explodingly awesome. David Lynch all over, then taken to the next level. His works are just progressively getting more and more beautiful – from Lost Highway, to Mulholland Drive (still my favourite), and now to the handycam glory of Inland Empire. Newcomers take heed; you really, really, really don’t want this to be your first Lynch film. Bah anyway – no-one’s going to watch this other than Lynch fans anyway, most others just fall into the ‘I don’t get it’ category.
Just like Mulholland Drive, it’s 3 hours long, so make sure you get some snacks and go pee beforehand 😉
I was curious as to what David and Margaret thought. A quick net trawl and Margaret hated it and gave it 1 Star. David gave it 2.5 Stars. I still love it despite what critics say. It’s a brilliant piece. Truly his greatest creation.
