An exceptional weekend

This weekend has been truly wonderful, I’m overjoyed. I spent Friday evening with one of my best friends Jack, which carried over to Saturday until around midday. Friday evening we went to the local cinemas to watch Elizabeth: The Golden Age which we both enjoyed, and Saturday morning was lazily spent relaxing with his mother and their cat Baxter, a white Persian Blue-point who has just been newly shaved. His shorn state makes him look like a newborn lamb, but he loves not having his usual two and a half inch fur that he preens himself often and with pride.

At midday I drove to my sister’s to see her, my brother-in-law and baby Olivia, and spent the day, evening and Sunday morning with them. Olivia is just beginning to teethe, or is about to, and she loves putting things in her mouth. It’s so cute when she takes hold of my fingers and proceeds to gnaw at them with all of her might. I delight in her so much, and she seems to find it amusing that I do, and smiles and laughs freely. Saturday afternoon my brother-in-law and I also got to play some Halo 3 online with our friends, and made some new ones which was delightful.

Sunday at lunch I drove over to my other best friend Chibi-R’s place and we caught up on any number of things which are our passions, but got to have some great time together talking about our lives and experiences. I also got to drink both post-mix Sprite and a Frozen Coke in the same day and it made me exceedingly happy. During our travels, I purchased The English Patient and The Departed on DVD, the former which I love and the latter which I like a lot, and also the Xbox 360 game Eternal Sonata which Chibi-R showed me some of. By all accounts it looks to be a beautiful and engaging game, made all the better by the inclusion of the original Japanese voice-acting.

Throughout the day I got to do a fair bit of driving and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, especially the driving I did with Jack and Chibi-R in the car with me. I’m so joyful and peaceful right now.
I was listening to the most beautiful music on the way home tonight; here are some more lyrics from The Cardigans.

I travelled east and I travelled west
And I found a boy with a heart on his chest
I ran aground, my ship left to rust
Yes I found a guide in the city of lust

To lead me into the night
Oh please drive away the light
Although my mother will never understand
I walk with him away from the light
And into the night

(extract from Lead me into the night by The Cardigans)

You are in a very zen mood. It is a great feeling to be so at peace and centred and being surrounded by the happiness of the moment.

Even your entry is relaxing. Sounds like a very great weekend. I want someone in my family to have another baby. All my cousins are grown up now. I miss the innocent joy that a toddler brings. Glad to see your doing well 😉 Take care.

i saw some maltesers in the imports aisle of the grocery store the other day. i thought of you and your diary =) i need to catch up.

Your pleasant spirit is intoxicating! A welcome thing when it’s been raining and gloomy for the past 4 days here… Savor every last drop!

It’s funny the little comforts that bring us joy… like a good movie, good friends, and good music. *hugs* I’m glad you had such a great weekend:)
