Swing lesson 24 | Brunswick
(Monday nights at Bridie O’Rielly’s, Brunswick)
Final lesson of the year!
We had a social and party thing going, but I didn’t hang around for that, just our Level 1 6-beat summer basic class, and the Christmas special lesson after that which involved crazy things like Rusty Dusties, Boogie Backs and all manner of jumping, shouting and general hooligan-like behaviour.
Gold!
So that makes 24 lessons in three months. I’ve covered 6-beat basics, tripples, Jockey Charleston, Tandem Charleston and even Balboa basics. The last frontier will be the almighty Lindy-hop, but speaking to Loz, Celia and Dan, it looks like getting into Lindy early can make it a little difficult, and the more Charleston and 6-beat you do, the better at Lindy you’ll be, so I’m happy to keep at it.
Next year I’ll start a Level 2 somewhere, but will keep doing Level 1 until it really gets repetative, and even then I might still turn up just to show support and give some good leading to the newbies.
Looking over my diary, I realise it’s been about 20 days since I last watched anime! What on earth is happening???
On the cards are Gasaraki, Monster, Shuffle! and Planetes to name a few. None of them immediately grab me, but once I start watching I might get hooked. In the meantime, Zelda: Twilight Princess is getting a lot of play time, so the anime might have to wait.
