Like Ginban, this is another series I’m watching while waiting for others to become available. The first episode was hilarious, and the intentions of this everyday anime seem to be fantastic. Though the genre-name ‘Slice of Life’ does sound a bit cheesy, I really do enjoy productions from it.

The pacing of this show is absolutely superb; lots of silent moments and mellow humour. I’m enjoying the everyday life scenarios, and the characters are absolutely loveable… I was going to exclude Miu for her rampant stupidity, but even she has her charms, of-course being the crux of a lot of the gags.

I really wasn’t expecting this series to be too sincere at all; I would have been happy if it wasn’t. As suspected though, episode 5 revealed a great touching theme which involved non-other but the bratty Mi-chan! Not only was it wonderfully warm, but I must say it was quite clever to have the character who acts-up the most central to the warmth. While what happens itself isn’t new to anyone who’s been around kids enough, it’s still something that’s not often presented so well, and handled with such finesse. A fantastic episode.

1st priority (ep 8)
Ichigo Mashimaro continues to float along like a gondola on a chanel in Aria. Miu of-course gets more annoying every day, but she duly gets hers and never ends up ahead by her actions. I did like the attention she got in ep 5 but for now it seems that sincerity is gone for her, probably never to return. Still though, she represents a very real kind of person in a group of friends. Nobue gets cooler every minute, and the others continue to be charming. This series is another shining example of simplicity and warmth at its best, perfectly capturing the joys of everyday life.

RYN: I took a page from Rove’s book and actually erased my answer of “no religion” and put in Pirate of the Caribbean. Ha ha, government. Ha ha.
