anime passion/obsession

I don’t think anyone is as obsessed with anime as I am… that or perhaps they just don’t write about it as much.

In the last 30 entries I’ve written, 16 of them have been anime related. I’m writing about it more than ever before, and though I do imagine that eventually I’ll write less, I’ve always been enthusiastic about the anime I watch, and generally go in cycles of writing/not writing about it.

It’s a bit strange that not a lot of people post to the anime circle here on OD, and that there are only a handful of users active in the forums. While I’m not really a forum user by nature, I do like to stick my head in from time to time and see how the various communities online are going. Suffice to say that I’ve peeked over the walls of animenfo and animenewsnetwork and while both are thriving, they’re not exactly the right environment for me… for various reasons. I keep lists at ANN (animenewsnetwork), but don’t connect with any of the posts in their forums. The same may eventually happen here, as some of the anime I’m into isn’t the most popular stuff, but I’d at least like to see the community grow and become more active. What strikes me as unique for the OD community is that hopefully we would have access to more in-depth perspectives in the form of the poster’s diary entries regarding anime, rather than the often short posts of a forum.

That being said, perhaps it’s a matter of attention-span. I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing in great amounts, but the two-sentence format of forums these days tends to win the day over more articulate expressions. I only need to remember my PC/console gaming forum days to shudder… those giving good explanations of perspectives were always ignored, while forum spats would rage on and on with one-line and often non-sensical posts.

Fingers crossed…
