in Australia unless one pokes around the North-American sites as i do, one doesn’t encounter news of this man and the shenanigans that inevitably ensue due to his actions.

however i managed to encounter this at ctrl-alt-del which made me laugh, purely because of its flaming nature.

many an intelligent word has been said about the effects of media on society, however my stance on this is simple. humans are always accountable for their actions – this includes appropriate actions regarding access to minors, not only to videogames, but other legal pleasantries such as alcohol, to name only one.

the primary solution to any problem of this nature is rooted in understanding.

by this i mean conversing with your child – not only once, but building an ongoing relationship based on curiosity, exposure of facts, appreciation for imagination, and a continually growing appreciation of responsibility. this is how i was raised, and as Tim Buckley from ctrl-alt-del says, i haven’t killed anyone. nor have i ever been in a fight or gotten drunk and hurt myself via foolish drunken behaviour…

… though if i did i’m sure it would be the fault of video-games, because aaaaaall of those North-American teen, post-teen and supposedly ‘mature’ films and shows that depict excessive drinking would never have caused my fragile North-American brain to think it was cool.

North-Americans – you make it so easy…

Just randomed on by…….I agree about accountability……no one seems to be accountable for their own actions anymore….too easy to blame someone or something else…….Cheers!
