vroenis is ill and will not be writing at present.
subsequently, the shared space we inhabit has gradually become more empty, things with shapes and names but no substance.
i will not explain.
on the other side of reality, however, full metal panic? fumoffu is indeed quite funny and enjoyable. i disagree with most who say it’s better than the first series. i loved the serious elements of the first series, and you’d all better get re-aquainted with them if you want to be a fan of the series, because the next one that apparently they’re working on this year, goes back to black technology and the whispered.
bring-on the uber whispered powers.
ADV seems to have licenced the lot, which is good because we’ll get them eventually in australia, and bad because ADV are hideously inefficient with their DVD mastering. eventually i think they’ll put one episode per disc just to sell 24-26 DVDs for each full season they licence. the bastards.
that being said, geneon (pioneer) are champions. all the yoshitoshi abe’s are on geneon – last night i watched the first ep of texhnolyze (spelling) which belongs to a friend – i must acquire this series. i love haibane renmei which is still my all-time best anime, but texhnolyze is a return to lain – abstract is back.
haven’t had the chance to watch stand alone complex much – maybe 9 eps so far. the video quality is excellent and the soundtrack has been mastered in the full japanese 5.1 dolby digital mix, but the subs are pretty bad. not as bad as the taiwanese hellsing or the various others that regularly drop lines, but stand alone complex has the worst subs in my collection. that is the price however, for not waiting until a local release. the money is no issue. madman (our local supplier in australia) have announced that they’ve licenced it though, so i’ll have my beloved region 4, fully mastered DVDs soon enough. that and fumoffu being licenced on ADV means madman will eventually get that, along with azumanga daioh, though i weep for how many dvds they’ll put it on.
it could be worse – sirens could have licenced everything.
I miss Fumoffu. I can’t wait to see the rest. Also, I just finished Texhnolyze and you can go and grab it off me for your viewing pleasure. As you said, this certainly does return back to the abstract days of Lain. While not as abstract on the whole. The last 5 episodes are truly Lain territory and something I want to discuss. Started on watching Someday’s Dreamers. It’s very promising.
