nail advice needed, not much else on the happs
Matt is due home tomorrow! Yay! I think he will be spending tonight in Ohio(Wooster area) at his Uncle Lynn and Aunt Cyndy’s place, at least I don’t expect him to make the 16 hour drive(ride) home from Clinton, IA, today. I’m just glad he’ll be back here, I’ve missed him.
Yesterday Dave came over with his 2 hairless cats to see how they would get along with Widget. Widget has never seemed to have a problem with other animals in the past so I didn’t anticipate any issues, he usually just ignores them. However Dave’s cats took to hissing at each other, at Widget, at us… Needless to say while he is out of town I don’t think that I will be having the girls over here. 🙂 It took us a while to get them out to his car again so he could take them home, it was really weird. But the good news I got out of it is that Widget doesn’t particularly mind other cats in the house so if we ever want to get another kitten we’d be alright. I think, anyway. 🙂 Widget is so needy though I’m not sure I’d want to do that to him.
I really need to get on cleaning the house today and getting the spare room ready for guests since my younger siblings + Emily will be out here in a few short weeks! I am excited that they are coming out to visit for a few days, it will be good times. I definitely need to vacuum and sweep around here, there is fur everywhere.
So I am back on my trying to not bite my nails kick and actually let them grow out a bit. So far I have been semi-successful. Does anyone have any tips on growing nails and keeping them shaped and looking nice? The extent of my nail knowledge is how to paint them and barely stay inside of the lines. Is there anything I can do for them to help them grow faster and stronger? My hands spend a lot of time inside of nitrile gloves at work and I wear these half-glove cotton liners to absorb some of the moisture but those leave the top half of my fingers free so that when I type I’m not making tons of typos. I am not sure if the moisture will hurt or help my nails, I guess we’ll find out.
Matt just texted me, says that he is near Chicago. Guess he is making good time? I don’t really know, haha.
Hmm I wonder if I can sweet talk Matt into putting up the other wall lantern for the side door and maybe perhaps put up the squiggly mirrors we bought at Ikea ages ago. This place is still so barren on the walls, I need to do some kind of decoratey-ness.
Alright I suppose I should get to cleaning it’s noon already. This is what I get for going back to sleep after waking up at 8AM. Being lazy never pays off!
Later taters.
The extent of my nail knowledge is how to paint them and barely stay inside of the lines. – LMAO Me too!! Is there anything I can do for them to help them grow faster and stronger? – I don’t think there’s any miracle way to get them to go faster and stronger. I can say I’ve seen mine grow stronger since I’ve been taking vitamins. I’ve heard a lot of people suggest taking Prenatal Vitamins. I forget what’s in them that really helps.

Sally Hansen makes some nail strengthening polish that’s clear. I know that helps make them stronger! It really works. When I have a good coat of nail polish on my nails, I’m not biting at them because I don’t want nail polish chips in my mouth. Maybe keeping them polished all the time will help? I don’t know about filing or shaping…I fail at that.

RYN: Thanks. I have been trying to do them at least once every 6 months. I think that’s the going rate anyhow, haha. Ideal car… I’m not sure. Since I only want 1 or 2 kids at this point… Probably just a decent sized car. I just asked J and the dealers they get deals at through Blizzard is Hyundai and Mazda. So it will very likely be one of those. He gets the cars at like dealer prices. 🙂 I do need to start shopping their sites and getting an idea of what I want. I don’t think I want an SUV or a van until my kids really require it (as they get older, sports, toting around friends, etc).

PS I feel you on the bailing people out. I have felt like that the last year. Oct we lent his uncle $3800 and his mom $1500. Then in June we lent Raquel $1000. Raquel paid us back right away. His mom just paid us back this weekend. Joe still owes us $3000. I think, dang, if you’d just pay me I’d be up over $50K right now.

At hyvee we had to wear vinyl gloves while preparing food and spent a lot of time washing dishes, which wreaked havoc on our nails. One of the older ladies swore that putting garlic oil on your nails strengthens them (and makes you not want to bite them – yuck!) but I couldn’t ever do that.

The best strategy I have is to take a multivitamin and trim them about once every two weeks or so. I’ve always noticed that mine are weaker and more prone to breakage when I file them. And the jobs I have are never conducive to growing out my nails, which is fine by me (short nails can be pretty and girly too!)

The nail strengthening polish from Sally Hansen really does work! I used to use it all the time.
