Seriously?
Okay now. Mom was asking me about my classes. And we ended up talking about how many I had now and how much I would have in the spring and who I’ll graduate then. Then I want to go to UTA or UTD to get my Bachelor’s in Biology and where I could go for pre-med from there.
Grannie comes around the corner and says, "You know what I want you to do? I want you to be a pediatric R.N."
"I don’t want to do peds, Grannie"
"Okay, well an R.N. then. It takes less time."
"Its not that much less and I want my doctorate."
She huffs and walks away. Dude??? Seriously???? WTF?
Somebody tell me what is wrong with doing what I want?

Tell me about it! I got the same put downs by my dad when I got my place at university, it was my dad who stopped me from attempting to go to university when I wanted to at 19 as well.

Don’t forget that Grannie is from a different era when women were nurses and men were Dr’s. It’s a traditional role for women in their eyes. Do what YOU want as it is YOUR life. Don’t take what they say personally as I know that when you DO become a Dr, they will be so terribly proud of you. *hugs*

RYN: I was sooo cold (at my meeting). They still had the A/C on like it was 100 out. Don’t get used to it though! You know the summer temperatures don’t end in September :o)
