RYN: Catnip is really just a weed. But when dried out the oil from it produces a smell that cats delight in. They roll around in it, sniff it, lick it, eat it, play with it, etc. It makes them act like they are high but really they’re just having an olfactory experience lol. It’s very healthy stuff. It adds greens to an indoor cat’s diet, something they would have in the wild naturally. Also…

it has medicinal properties when taken by humans in tea form. It’s good for fevers and colds. The relatives of the domestic cat, such as lions or jaguars, will have the same reaction to catnip. It’s actually quite a pretty weed when it is in flower. I tried to grow it in my window in our old apartment but I didn’t get enough sunlight.
