Day 1 = success
♥ Sooooooo. My alarm went off at 4am, and as I imagined, I cringed and wanted to roll over and go back to sleep. At the same time though, I felt pretty good. I had decided to take an Ativan at 8pm to calm me and knock me out early, and that’s just what it did. I slept well and even though I would have rather stayed in bed (I’m so not a morning person) I was able to get my ass up and ready to leave by 5.
There wasn’t a soul on the road at 5am… except that ONE douche bag that I had to follow all the way to CP. Go figure.
Oh! I forgot! When I got up, I checked my email and there was one from Ed! Here’s the thing about this email though, it’s so sweet. He took the time to send me this before he went to bed knowing I would get it first thing in the morning. None of my friends messaged me about having a good day or sending good luck, which is why this stood out…
Just wanted to wish u good luck on ur first day at ur new job tomorrow. And for the record, u didn’t bite off more than u can chew. Nothing on this earth is placed before u that u can’t handle. I have total confidence in your skills and abilities. These people hired u because of what u brought to the table. U wouldn’t be there if that wasn’t the case. U got ur family backing u, ur friends backing u and I’M backing u. All these people have confidence in u. The only person left to believe in yourself is (u already know), u!! You’ll do just fine, i know it. Once u get the first day jitters out the way, everything will be butter, just watch.
I’ll be thinking of u 🙂
Talk soon baby. xoxox
How sweet is that?? I mean, really. It made my morning all that much better.
Anyway, I got to the place at about 20 after 6 and it was easy enough to find. I parked, met the girl I was supposed to meet at the door and we went in together. The office is in an apartment building and there are several apartments in the building that have our clients in them. There’s a staff on duty at the office who takes care of the building residents and then there are staff that come and go (like me) who work the lines. The whole thing is actually really cool! EVERYTHING that I need to know is online and I can access it with my password from anywhere- so I can check my schedule from home, I can check what line I’m working, which clients are on my list for the day and what time I need to be at their place and I can access all their client information and what services they need done that day!
So today, I worked with a woman named Angele (who was very nice) and we worked line 2. We had a total of 3 clients today. hahaha! We would have had 4, but one had cancelled. So first thing at 7:15- we headed out to our first client. She lived about 5 minutes away from the office (as did all of our clients today!) and we got her breakfast ready, made sure she took her pills and did some light housekeeping. We were there a total of 40 minutes! That’s it! Our second client cancelled, so we literally sat in the office from 8- 11 and she showed me the website and how to log the things I needed to log, etc.. Then we read the paper and surfed the net. AND GOT PAID FOR IT. We went to our next client at 11:15, I ran to the store for him and we cleaned up his place a little bit, then we left by noon. Our last client was at 12:30 and we were done by 2 and I got to leave and go home- but got paid until 3! There will be busier days, but there will also be days like this- and I don’t have to go to the office when I don’t have a client. In fact, Angele told me to "hide out" when/if that happens. lol.
By the time I headed home, I had the WORST headache I’ve ever had- I thought I would throw up by the time I got home. I took 2 advil and 2 tylenol and crashed for an hour before it even started to feel better. It’s gone now, thankfully.
I think I’m going to like this job once I get into it. If I can make the move to the city, it’ll be even better.
This week is going to be HELLA busy trying to work both jobs…
I’m happy to hear it worked out! I thought about you today, hoping it went well!
