Back from the Doctor… again.

♥ I’m very frustrated. Some of this may be TMI- so here’s your warning.

I went to the doctor about a month and a half ago because I was having chest pain and anxiety attacks. He put me on Pariet for GERD- which has helped the heartburn and chest pain and gave me Ativan for panic attacks. He also sent me for an ultrasound- which I did exactly one month ago, and blood work. I made the appointment for today to not only see what the results were, but to figure out why I’ve been incredibly dizzy on and off for almost 2 weeks now.

So, I go in and he starts looking over all my paperwork and results and I tell him about being dizzy and how it’s interfering with my daily activities and that it’s really bothering me. He continues to look over my charts, told me all my blood work came back looking perfectly normal (except I was low on B12)  and my ultrasound showed my ovaries were enlarged. Then he says "well.. let’s do a pap test. Ever had one before?"

Christ. Are you fucking kidding me?

You go in because you’re dizzy and you end up on a table with your faf hangin’ out. Surprise!

anyway.. I did all that jazz, which is very uncomfortable but thankfully only for a short amount of time, then he comes back in and starts talking about birth control to regulate my periods and more Pariet and an antidiabetic drug called Metformin. Not because I have diabetes- my blood work showed my sugar levels were perfectly normal, so he expects this to LOWER my already normal blood sugar levels. WTF. I guess it’s also used to treat polycystic ovaries, but when I just got done researching it, it said .."  women with PCOS and a body mass index above 25 be given metformin for anovulation and infertility when other therapies have failed to produce results.[26] However, two large clinical studies completed in 2006–2007 returned mostly negative results, with metformin being no better than placebo "

So really, other than the common adverse effects (gastrointestinal upset…great) I might not get anything good out of it.

….
I asked about the dizzyiness again after he told me about all the new fancy drugs he wants to put me on, and he "hmm"ed and listened to my heart and took my blood pressure and looked over my charts and talked more about birth control.

So whatever. Next time I feel really dizzy, I’m just going to lay in the street and hope someone runs me over.

That, or I’ll go to emergency. Whatever.

I went to pick up my new meds and I get to the counter and the girl goes .."oh.. they only gave you 1 month of birth control.. hmm. I guess that’s all you’re supposed to get for now" . WTF? So I have to go back to my doctor before a month is up to get another prescription for more? What the fuck is the point of that?!

He told me to come back in about a month anyway, but now I’ll have to make sure I go before the end of this pack so I can determine if I need more- which I likely will because one month of birth control seems completely POINTLESS to me.

Then.. oh boy- get this..
he says that all my blood work and stuff looks great and my blood pressure is normal and he says .."Well, you must feel pretty healthy then..?"   uhhh.. WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN THIS WHOLE TIME?

NO! I do NOT feel "pretty healthy". I feel like SHIT.

COME ON!!!!
WHY YOU NO LISTEN TO WHAT I SAY?!?!

moron.

Oh man, time for a new doctor. Not that it would be easy to find one in Ontario :/

The last thing you need is to take diabetic meds (I take Metformin) and have a low blood sugar, which will make you weak and dizzy and shaky. OMG!!!! Is this guy really a doctor? I hope you get a second opinion. I hate when docs only give you a month of meds. It’s to insure that you come back and get checked, but I find it so annoying. So sorry, Meggie. I just want you to feel better.

Oh man, that sucks. I agree with others that a second opinion is warranted. So sorry you had to deal with this dude who obvsl wasn’t listening to your concerns. I hope you feel better soon.
