Pros and Cons

 Dear Diary;

I’m *almost* sure that I’m going to take the position- but I still have to wrap my head around it and prepare myself for all the crap I’m sure to face.

Wellness Coordinator

PROS
CONS

private bathroom
location of cabin

part of the team
first/last day madness

able to participate in camp activities
meds at meal times

know the expectations already
phone calls to parents

no responsibility on "off" weekends
high stress- hospital visits

fear of being unsure how to handle/treat something

having to stay with sick campers when they are isolated

 Camp Director

PROS
CONS

location of cabin
no bathroom

private cabin
"boss" syndrome

*title
tough decisions

knowing everything that’s going on at camp
dealing with the administrative things

internet access
hundreds of phone calls

** potential to be a fun director
less able to participate in activities

better wages
expected to know everything

year-round position (possibly)
dealing with angry parents, etc

dealing with all staff (including kitchen, maintenance, etc)

busses, garbage, water, trip plans, bills, payroll

 * great power, great responsibility and all that jazz.
** being careful not to lose respect that way- like past directors I’ve worked for.

Q: Am I right for the job because they’re out of time and they can’t get anyone else- or am I right for the job because they really think I’m capable?   <— I’m still struggling with that one.

Now I just have to go back and cross off the things that I can live with and get through that are on the "con" lists.

if they didn’t think you were capable I don’t think they would have asked you 🙂

I don’t think they would have asked you if they didn’t think you were capable. Their butt’s are on the line and they need someone they know can do the job and do it well. They have a reputation to protect. Love pro and con lists. =)

this is a smart way to look at it 🙂

You will make the right decision, I am sure. My only piece of advice is this: don’t let fear stop you from doing what you really want to do.
