The Maple Leaf Forever.

 Dear Diary;

I’m taking a mini-break from watching the closing ceremonies to write here. It’s okay, don’t worry, I’m not missing anything important (it’s just Nickleback. yuck).

How awesome is this performance? I’m finding it to be quite good; after all the speeches and whatnot were over, of course.

The hockey game was INTENSE! I sat and watched it with my parents and we were all yelling and screaming at the television and clapping our hands. My mom was close to having a heart attack so she went to cook supper and told us to call her when there was 30 seconds left so she could watch the end. HA! I told her the last 30 seconds would be when the Americans scored and forced us into overtime. I was joking, but what do you know- 24.4 seconds left on the clock and they scored. Thank goodness for Sid the Kid. It was a great way to end the Olympics. We now hold the record for the most Gold medals won in a single year: 14.

I was reading an entry on reader’s choice about how the US and the UK were angry with Canada and Canadians for being loud and cheering for our athletes and waving our flag and generally being patriotic. I stopped reading the entry when she said that we began cheering when we were given the go-ahead from our prime minister. No one had to tell Canadians to cheer for their Country- we did that all on our own. We ARE patriotic and we will cheer and scream and wear Canadian clothing and wave our flag because we are proud to be Canadian. There’s nothing wrong with that and for once, we shouldn’t say "sorry" for it.

Speaking of being patriotic, I finally planned out my next tattoo (which I will be getting as soon as my income tax money comes). I’m going to get "Made in Canada" on my wrist with a maple leaf under it. I’ve had the leaf picked out for three years now and I think it’s time to get ‘er done.
