DePhoMo 4 – Messages

Dear Diary;

When I woke up this morning, everyone was gone. I instantly felt a little sad because I would have no vehicle and no way to get out and about and take great pictures for my very own prompt! I decided to go outside and wander and see what my eye could see that would work well for "messages".

That’s when it hit me. Almost everything I saw sent a message and I think that’s the beauty of this prompt. It seems difficult until you realize that it’s actually very, very simple. What message are those bare tree branches sending?  It’s winter. How about the water in the puddles? It rained last night. The Christmas lights on the house? We celebrate Christmas. Everything sent a message- whether it was obvious at first or not.

So I ended up taking this:

Message: You’ve got mail.

As much as I would have liked to get out and take something new [to me], I think this simple message it just as good.

Out here, when the flag on the mailbox is up, that lets the mailman know there is outgoing mail to be picked up. The “you’ve got mail” sign for us was when the flag was down, which I can remember waiting and waiting for and then running out to the mailbox when I was a kid lol. You just brought back good memories for me. 🙂

ryn: Thank you!!!! Now I can look at the picture without my OCD fire alarms going off lol. Since I live in the city now, I have to find one of those big mailboxes they randomly put throughout the city, but when I lived in a rural setting, raising the flag was all it took. I never realized how good I had it lol.
