so far 2011 isn’t much better than 2010
i’m tired right now. my time at the reference desk is down to 4 weeks. i was informed recently that may 14th will be last day. they won’t be funding the position any more. in some ways i’m angry and upset. in another way i’m scared. i’m more scared than anything right now. my fear comes down to one thing, it always does in my world: money. i’ve been doing pretty well the last couple years and it has been because of this job. the payrate has been pretty good and i’ve been able to keep up with my bills. i’m not really sure what i’m going to do. the library market is saturated with librarians at least here in indiana. so there isn’t much there. i still have my bookstore gig and i think i’m going to be able to get some more hours there, which will be nice in some way, but not so much in another. i have been working hard to get out of there and i don’t necessarily want to go back fulltime. parttime was fine, but fulltime… i’m going to have to find something that will make up the difference in pay.
on one hand, i have a month. i’ll have to be diligent and work hard to find smoething. but there is one other problem. i have my archives gig. that takes up my day. the ref gig takes up the evening. i have mondays to do serious job searching. i work the bookstore saturday and sundays. i’m spread pretty thin.
i keep meaning to go back and read the entries i wrote when i started my reference gig. i remember writing a few. i’d like to see what i was thinking back then. but i’m sure i’ll someone who was excited and hopeful. i miss that guy.
i need a vacation and i could use a good nap.
*hugs* Sorry, my friend. It’s the damned economy and yes, a saturation of librarians. Didn’t they say just a few years ago there would be a shortage? BAH. Well, keep at it. I know, it’s hard to try, but you’ll find your place.

Also, I saw that Abide sticker on a car when I was driving to work earlier this week. I thought of you. 🙂 I guess that’s the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin’ itself.

So sorry it’s been so rough. 🙁 I hope you’re able to find something in your field soon. Have you ever tried simplyhired.com? I get daily emails with music therapy job postings and have had a lot of luck with it. They’re from all over the country, so it might not be too useful for you, but you could set up daily library job emails and maybe something would come of it.
