thought over a glass (or two) of wine
is there anyone out there? anyone still stop by the zoo? i’d be surprised if there was. i seem to update this diary less and less all the time, which is to bad. i stop by, look around, read an entry or two and then move on. i haven’t been in the mood to write lately. mainly because there isn’t much going on and i don’t have much to write about.
guns and are done-done. i’ve tried to go back through and pick through the wreckage and figure out what happened. i’m still in some shock, the aftermath has been too crazy and upsetting.
i had a phone interview a week ago yesterday at one of the universities here in the hoosier state. i think it went okay, but phone interviews are not my strong suit. i think it would be a very cool job. and it certainly would be the first step into the career i want, but there are so many more experienced librarians than me that i have a hard time getting seen.
i’m having some wine and listening to my chet baker channel on pandora. i love chet baker’s music and that style of jazz. its a little bit more smooth than miles davis’ jazz. don’t get me wrong, though, i love miles davis, particularly his older stuff before he started to get all funk-di-fied.
i’m drinking a soft white wine. it’s a little sweeter than i usually have, i’m more of a dry wine drinker, but i’ve discovered the soft white and soft red from a local winery and i really quite enjoy them. it also has a nice finish, that i wish i could describe, but i can’t, except to say that it kind of grabs the back of my tongue as i swallow the wine. it leaves a nice clean aftertaste, too. its probably a very good after-dinner wine. maybe a dessert wine, but i think that might be too much. maybe pair it with some fruit that has a bite, strawberries, perhaps.
i tend to be more of a shiraz/merlot drinker. i like my wines to be full bodied (just like my women, right kdawg?) wine drinking is something i started about a year ago, but after i met guns i really started to enjoy it. learning about wine is something i’m thankful she taught me. i promise you, i’m not pining about her, just kind of giving some reason why i’m drinking wine and not something more "manly" like jim beam… i can’t do that any more. its just.. too dangerous.
the retail season is getting ready to heat up. i’m hoping it will be a better year than last year, i think it will, actually. maybe its because sales have started earlier and christmas seems to have started before halloween this year. it seems folks are opening their wallets a tad wider this year.
i don’t have much else. i think i’m gonna enjoy my wine and my jazz.
i love wine!!! drink a glass each night. helps me relax and wind down so i can sleep. i hope that phone interview gets you a face to face. and good luck as you search for your perfect job. take care,

Sorry to hear about Guns. Hope you do well with that interview! Who would have thought this was such a tough field?

Sorry about Guns. 🙁 My 2 cents on phone interviews: stand up while you’re on the phone. It sounds silly, but I got that advice from a career coach last Spring. It raises your energy level and you’re more in action mode than passive.

I’m sorry things didn’t work out for you two. I wish there was some sage advice I could give you, but I’m thinking I’m more in the mind of sage some advice I could give her. I am a merlot/shiraz type. Have you tried Cabernet-Savagnon (sp?) yet?

What made you decide you and guns are done-done? 🙁 I like wine. I just have a hard time drinking a glass of anything without feeling the effects.
