I Survived Day One

I survived Day One of Borrower Services training.  That was what I told a former co-worker after our shift was over and what I told my mom when she and I went to Red Robin for dinner.  Starting tomorrow, I leave messages for borrowers on machines.  I won’t actually start talking to borrowers until Thursday or Friday when I’ve learned more about deferments and forbearances.  It sounds like this is my ticket to moving out from my parents’ house.  I’ve got a shot at another $1 raise through all this training and if I exceed my stats.  I’ve been praying for so long for a way to move out and it’s interesting that this seems to be the path that Heavenly Father has given me.  So if I get that $1 raise, I’ll be apartment shopping this time next year.

In any case, from what I saw and heard today while with my buddy (when you’re training in borrower services, you get a buddy and for the first week, you’re either with your buddy or in class), outgoing calls look pretty simple.  I already miss Loan Ops though.  But most think that we haven’t seen the last of Loan Ops, so maybe I’ll end up back there in a few years – you never know. But I’m determined to give this a chance.  I’m a little nervous about talking to borrowers and spending my days on the phone but if I want more than "almost" then I need to continue to trust in Heavenly Father.  So that’s what I’m going to do.  But that’s not going to stop me from checking the job postings within the company and praying about the ones that look promising.

In other news, President Obama’s going to be in town tomorrow and one of the streets I use to get to work is going to be closed while he’s here.  No one seems to know what time it’ll be closed, but that’s a good reason to either a.) get to work early or b.) take another route entirely.  I definitely wouldn’t want to be flying out of the airport anytime tomorrow, as I imagine flight delays will be nasty here.  From what I’m reading now, Obama’s going to be speaking at the middle school some time after noon, so in theory, I should be okay at 7:30 to take the street I usually take, but I may just take a different route.
