BRRRRRRRR

BRRR!  We weren’t supposed to get real cold overnight (just around 30 degrees F) because it wasn’t supposed to clear out.  However, a couple hours ago, the strong cold Canadian low started to push through and pushed the clouds out.  As a result, we dropped 7 degrees in an hour!  We’re now at 20 (we were at 23 at around 7:15 so we’re still dropping).  Also thanks to the strong low, the winds are REALLY strong this morning and will be through early afternoon.  We’re going to have sustained winds at 20-30 mph with gusts between 40 and 45.  As a result, our wind chills are in the SINGLE DIGITS!  Now I know my sis is going to laugh at me for how cold it is, but in terms of these wind chills, we don’t see it this cold til late December.

I found a FANTASTIC deal on amazon.com yesterday.  My dad has always loved the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon" and has always wished we’d taped it when it aired back in 98.  I found it on amazon.com yesterday as part of it’s "Cyber Monday" deals.  Instead of the usual $59.98, I bought it for $20.99.  This is the edition I bought (opens in new window). And yes, for some reason it’s cheaper today (Nov 27) than yesterday (Nov 26) which happened to be Cyber Monday. While looking around Amazon’s deals, I also figured out what to get my mom.  I’m getting here these two cds by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir:

  • Rock of Ages: 30 Favorite Hymns
  • The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Greatest Hits: 22 Best-Loved Favorites

This year, things are so crazy that pretty much all of my shopping is going to be done online and I’ve got a good start on my shopping.  I’ve ordered my dad’s present, know what I’m getting my mom (but waiting til I get paid to order it!). I know what I’m getting my sis (and no, sis – I’m not putting the link up here )  I still need to figure out what to get my brothers and then find small stocking stuffers for my parents and brothers (small things between $5 and $10).  But so far, so good!
