How to embed Windows Media Player in OD (music)
I’m surprised at the number of requests for the method of embedding Windows Media Player in OD. Seems like everyone wants to put music in their entries now! OD will be filled with music soon…
OK, here’s how to do it (I assume you are not too OD-savvy so my explanations may be a bit long-winded):
Step 1 – On the entry editor, press the Source Code (ì©l½X) button (see the sample image below).
Step 2 – Type the following HTML codes to embed a Windows Media Player with your song.
<embed src="http://xxx.yyy.wma" width="285" height="40" loop="1" autostart="true"></embed>
Notes
1) The (http://xxx.yyy.wma) part is the path to where your song is. As you can see it must be on a website, not on your computer.
2) The width and height are both adjustible; you can adjust the numbers to your liking. Play around with them and you will gain some insights to the appearance of the Player.
3) If you want your song to play endlessly, type loop="-1".
4) If you want your song to start manually, type autostart="false".
5) Beware that if the size of the song is too big, you may have a bandwidth problem, i.e. the song may not play if the bandwidth limit is exceeded by too many people listening to it.
Step 3 – Press the Source Code button again and you should see the Player now. You can continue typing your entry as normal.
I’m demonstrating the method by my example below. Enjoy.
Tomorrow each of us has to bring our favourite hymn to church for our cell group gathering. I’ve chosen You Raise Me Up by Secret Garden.
You Raise Me Up
Composed by: Rolf Lovland
Lyrics by: Brendan Graham
Vocals: Brian Kennedy and Tracy Campbell-Nation
Violin: Fionnuala Sherry
When I am down and oh my soul so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me
You raise me up so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
There is no life, no life without its hunger
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly
But when you come and I am filled with wonder
Sometimes I think I glimpse eternity
I just LOVE this song. Actually I’m not sure if it qualifies as a hymn, but in my mind it’s every bit as powerful as one. Whenever I listen to it, I feel like I’m standing in the deep mountains, by the coast of a vast ocean, or lying on a great grass plain, looking at wisps of cloud drift by, casting all my worries to the wind.
I seek inner refuge in stormy times. And in this song, I find it.
Yes, when I am down, You raise me up. Amen.
IMPORTANT: Please let me know if my song doesn’t play, thank you!
it works ! 🙂
