Jeeze, I miss George Carlin. He told the truth that made you laugh, even when you should be crying. Over and over, I keep telling my girls my personal mantra- PAY ATTENTION. Pay attention to everything, pay attention, pay attention, pay attention. They get tired of hearing me say it, but I really want them to remember that mantra the rest of their lives. In this clip, Carlin used one of my favorite phrases- “willful ignorance”. It’s the best descriptor there is to use for most Americans.

“Willful ignorance”…welcome to the U.S. of A. This whole clip should be required viewing for Americans…amongst others. I wish there were more like him…people who are not willing to sugar coat the truth. People like him are rare gems… I just wish I could have him here for one more day…and Molly Ivins, too.

I really miss George too. I saw him a long, long time ago and I remember thinking then what a smart man he was. Funny yes, but oh so smart.

RYN: Everyone’s been thoroughly scritched on your behalf. 🙂 I’m sorry to read about Rooby’s aches and pains. Annie and Baby are in similar situations, although they’re not at the point yet where they need the meds that old Dex needed for his achey bones. Are you giving him glucosamine? I’ve been giving it to both of my dogs for a couple of years now and I swear by that stuff.

RYN: I get my glucosamine sulphate from a feed and supply store for farmers. It’s in powder form and comes in a small bucket. It is meant for horses, but you just give a dog smaller doses . . . about 750mg per 50 pounds of critter weight or whatever your vet prescribes. It’s far, far cheaper than buying it in pill or cap form from the grocery store and it’s pure, rather than an additive to other vitamins or minerals. I mix it in a little bit of water or broth before adding it to the dog’s meals and they don’t even know it’s there. Of course, they might not be nearly as observant as old Rooby is. 🙂

RYN: We are volunteering this year with my daughter’s cheer team and it has been a blast. I am exhausted at the end of the day, but I have gotten to meet a lot of really nice people. I have regular customers at my booth and it has been really fun hearing all of their stories and just breaking out of my shell so to speak. Thanks for the note.
