Hoping To Make A Certain Fave Smile
This is for one of my faves, they will know who when they read this. I realize that what I am about to write is crazy and most parents would not do it. I think I had a moment of losing my mind.
I woke up to a note left by the 2 oldest girls they were 14 and 15 at the time. In the note they told me they had left for an adventure and put in crap about how they were sure I would be proud of them because they know how I like adventures and had taken them on many. They ended the note telling me they would call me later.
I was sooooo pissed not to mention worried but the more I thought about it the more the emotional rather that rational side took over. Oh those lil BRATS!
I called the phone company and had the number changed and then I changed the locks and then I went boating. It was not like I had a good time, I was worried and pissed.
They called and found the number disconnected, got worried and came home only to find they were locked out. It had began to rain, so ended the boating.
I arrived home to find 2 wet pups that were PISSED at me for changing the phone number and locks! They couldn’t believe I had done that to them after they had clearly stated in their note that they would be calling me so I wouldn’t worry. I just shrugged and refused to let them know how I was worried sick and cried and cried during that day.
To bring the story to an end we had a very long talk and needless to say I never woke up to an adventure note again.
As most of you that know me knows that the eldest did not live to adulthood so only one of them around to enjoy the laugh we now get out of it.
I know my story is nothing like what this fave is going though but I do hope they read this and it makes them smile… or roll their eyes at my craziness!
Sometimes kids need tough lessons but nowadays that one would probably put me in jail!
i hope it makes her smile, too. except that your eldest passed away. that was sad. you changed the locks and the home phone number?? now THAT is crazy!! and that’s why i love your stories. :0)

You are bad! I am sorry about your oldest daughter; I did not know. Be well, my friend.

That’s definitely helping to create an adventure. I’ll bet they never went up to you and said, “I’m bored”. 🙂

Wow, I never had the guts to do that with my mom. Then, I didn’t have a sister, either. I think some of the laws today make the kids King and Queen and the parents pussies.
