Bird Question
<———— Babbling wordy entry that way.
Alika or any of my other faves who know stuff about birds:
My mom found this feather down by the pool today. Any idea what bird it came from?
Mom thinks it’s some sort of hawk. Any ideas?

It is a raptor feather, though I couldn’t say for sure which one. I think a hawk is a very likely guess. But, gosh, I have trouble identifying feathers from our own birds 🙂 The edge looks a little serrated, though. It seems a little too pointy to be an owl feather, but I guess it could be. But my money is on the hawk.

Looks exactly like a peregrine falcon feather. http://www.fws.gov/chesapeakebay/images/peregr.jpg 🙂

^okay, now that’s just embarrassing, since I’ve been spending a ridiculous amount of time with a peregrine falcon lately 🙂
