The Consequence of Boredom
So, I am bored and writing an entry even though I don’t have a lot to say. I actually haven’t resorted to writing entries to quell boredom in quite a while, which I suppose is a good thing.
Anyway, my life has been going pretty swimmingly lately, the only thing I can really complain about is that there hasn’t been a lot of, well, progression. I live perfectly pleasant days and have a really nice mix of leisure and work time, getting just enough work in to feel useful and at the same time having enough leisure time to enjoy myself with a good book or baseball game. The teaching itself is extremely rewarding and I was practically assailed with compliments at the beginning of this quarter by several of my new students about how they had heard that I make accounting “fun” etc.
So, the only thing my life is really lacking, as usual, is social interaction. The closest real friends I have are at a minimum over two hours away, meaning I can only see them sporadically. I would really love to have friends here who I can call up and hang out with anytime and that’s something that I haven’t had since I graduated well over a year ago now – and it’s something I’m doubtful to have as long as I’m living in the rural south. My attempts at making friends either through online dating or meeting others "in person" have been failing pretty miserably, but I think a good part of that is my location and not lack of attempts or my own personal failings. And at any rate, if lack of a social life is all I really have to complain of, then my life is probably going pretty good, yeah?
Right, anyone who actually manages to note this entry wins lots of respect from me.
Tiny font is tiny! Do you have enough money saved to move to maybe Athens or Atlanta and continue your job hunt from there?

Marriott Guy doesn’t have any friends either and I think he’s doing okay. But I don’t know. I’d like for the both of you to have friends, too. ~I’ll be

I know how you feel. I don’t seem capable of making friends or keeping them on the rare occasion someone does like me enough to be friends for a while. Social lives are hard things to come by. loooooove, Lidia

I hope you find some great ones. It’s tough not having any nearby.

RYN – I know. I should also mention, however, that we DO see each other less than we used to (which, I guess, might mean we should be having even MORE sex…), but yeah. I rarely initiate. Never have. We’ll get through it though. ~I’ll be

way to call for attention . . . why do you stay in the rural south?

Hmm. I think I was only rescued from that when I came back to Singapore by dint of the fact that one– just ONE– of my old school friends introduced me to a social circle. It’s different now, of course.

I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately, and how I miss talking to you. But I don’t even know if you’d want a call from me at this point…

Friends. Hmm. I don’t remember what those are like. Honestly. That’s probably my fault, though.

Lack of a social life does suck but it could be much worse I’m sure.

I can understand the boredom with the social interacting. Jonathan and I haven’t made any new friends for a few years, but we do spend a lot of time with his parents, his sister, and his fiance. However, we don’t spend a lot of time with them, either, because both of us are always busy…trying to stay afloat!!!

Have you made any friends at the college? Once you move and/or get a job that will give you more possibilities. Meetup.com is a good way to find people with common interests. I thought about doing that when all my friends abandoned me, but I was too much of a social reject to actually go through with it.

i think the people that mean the most to us are often not as close as we want them to.

Swimmingly hahahahaha. Ahh, you’re too adorable for words sometimes. I miss you, Matt. Life has been hectic. I am home Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Shall we mate?
