Teaching Trouble!

So, I think I got in trouble for the first time since I started teaching. We’re required according to the Georgia Technical College Standards Board (or something like that) that we hold class for the entire class period and I am known for letting my class out early (because it just makes sense to dismiss the class once you’ve covered the material that you scheduled for the day, to me). At any rate, from now on I must force my students to stay the entire period, no matter whether we have covered all the material or not. Perhaps I should start ending class with a game of Heads-up 7-up for extra credit!
On another note, does it make me a bad teacher that I find several of my students this semester to be quite cute? Does it help my case that they’re probably older than me?
Oh, Matt, none of that stuff can make you a good or bad teacher, you silly boy. A good teacher is one who explains the material well, answers questions, and is patient and willing to help. What you think of the students has nothing to do with the kind of teacher you are. But you know that. *ruffles your hair*

Since when? That’s stupid. ~I’ll be

That’s pretty stupid. Maybe you can give the students a chance to start working on homework or time to ask you any questions at the end of class. I don’t think it makes you a bad teacher to find your students cute. Anyone appear to find you cute??
Warning Comment
That’s how it was for the Spanish classes at UH.

well, it never hurts to review content covered with a game. also, you could start each class with a lengthy review of the previous class, or better yet, a pop quiz. that should endear you to those cuties. i happen to find all my students to be quite cute.[laughs]

ryn Yes, it is a LOT of money, especially considering the cost of living up there. Care to act as my personal financial advisor? Good luck with the teaching. Sounds like you might have struggles beyond having to fail a student this semester . . . .
