21 *edit*

I’m delighted to say that I’ve finally reached the apex of life, the most beloved birthday of all, number 21, meaning I’m finally able to buy alcohol without the horrid inconvenience of promising not to tell.

Of course, such occasions do not come without their downsides. For one, I’ve reached the last landmark birthday that has a positive association. From now on, any milestone birthday just means that I’m getting old. Not an entirely rewarding thought.

Still, I do get the absurd giddiness this year of knowing I have an actual present awaiting me at my apartment, which is only slightly tempered by knowing I’ll be expected to return the favor in a few months. Not to mention this is my first ever Facebook birthday, meaning I get a multitude of online Happy Birthday wishes. It’s a small reward, yes, but I think it’s something everyone should experience at least once.

Of course, while providing all these rewarding opportunities for friends to wish me Happy Birthday, the last thing I wanted to do was leave out you diary readers, my most beloved friends of all. So now is your chance.

Insert all birthday wishes below.

As silly internet survey things go, I thought this was pretty cool: http://kevan.org/johari?name =ajstanson. You’ll have to type in the =ajstanson at the end of the URL, since OD won’t let me post it any other way for some reason.

And, yes, I know it’s lame, but I thought it was neat. So. Psh.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAT!

February 12, 2006

I’ve discovered that whenever I leave someone a “Happy Birthday” message, or any special occasion greeting it comes out sounding like a cheap Hallmark card. Just the same, Happy Birthday! I hope it was more fun than a barrel of monkeys. P.S. I love you, you silly boy. Even if you are old now…yes, maybe too old! Oh my.

ryn: Aw, how sweet. I never thought I’d see the day when Matty himself turned romantic. ^_^

wait. after 21, you get to look forward to 25, when your car insurance rates go down. 🙂

I am extremely shocked to see that you did not post a birthday wishlist from amazon, as you have done for almost every other event in your life, including for past birthdays, if I am not mistaken. However, I do intend on buying you a gift, so, I will find you on AIM and insist on getting you something. So there. 🙂 Happy Birthday, Matty. 🙂 –Mary

Were you the one who did mine and left the name as “Psh”? Because I was trying to figure it out.

Did you know there’s a girl around here who claims to be your girlfriend?

Really, I did think you were too old and not quite tragic enough for diary relationships – though I’m not sure why.
