Note Response

I got a note that interested me yesterday and since the user apparently has no diary name, I couldn’t respond directly to him or her, so I’m doing so here. It’s my diary and I can do that. Anyway, here is how the note read:

“It seems to me that you have plenty of adoring fans willing to tell you your diary..or blog whichever you prefer is pretty much the joy of their life. And you saying how much your diary rating has dropped and how you have so many hating fans but are dedicated to the diary enough to keep going…is in a way similar to someone asking what you think of them…”

I liked that note a lot because it used all sorts of cognitive thought and turned my words around on me, but, of course, I have a response. The part I’m responding to is the bit that maliciously accuses me of resorting to the tactics that I’ve instructed you not to use in the form of groveling for your support for my Blog Hot or Not, which is basically tantamount to asking you if I’m hot.

The key difference is that blog hot or not was not created for my benefit, but rather the readers. I understand that most of you readers have such a strong sense of gratitude and love for this diary that you often experience a deep yearning to express it. Blog Hot or Not provides a wonderful medium for you to do this. So, imagine my shock when I learned through the grapevine that my rating had tumbled all the way down to a 5.4. Needless to say, shockwaves went down my spine.

After the shockwaves subsided, I realized that all of the diary readers really still loved me, and that most of the people that vote on blog hot or not didn’t even actually read the diary. So, I thought it would make a good joke if, in jest, I accused my diary readers of hating me. I did this, people laughed, life went on.

Basically, as I’ve explained before, the entire diary is only a vehicle for my amusement, and while I do occasionally tackle a semi-serious subject, the vast majority of the entries are nothing but nonsense and any attempt you make of trying to take intelligent thought from them is probably going to be fruitless. Perhaps, I should put that warning over every entry. Well, anyway, I hope we’ve reached an understanding.

In short, I know you don’t hate me, ok?

i can’t believe u forgot about me again! i most definetly hate u! despise u even. briz

And how are you supposed to know whether or not these people are being serious or just as sarcastic as yourself. If your allowed to joke about the things in life why cant someone else…and although asking whether or not your hot may seem utterly shallow possibly that person really would like to know.

So pretty much I should just give up on trying to take anything you say seriously? I must remind you sarcasm is not an easy thing to detect while online, and seeing as I do not know you personally it is even harder to detect it.

why do you have yourself on your own favorites list?
