Job, What Job?

Well, I’ve certainly not been writing.

I know that is partially due to the winter doldrums–and winter sure is taking it’s time in getting out of here, did you hear that a States’ Attorney in Ohio has filed suit against Puxatawney Phil for fraud in declaring a timely end to winter?

I am also blaming my extended winter blahs on the situation at work.  My company, and I use the term "my" loosely, is reorganizing Information Resources and that is the department in which I work.  In the next month, or so, I, and all my colleagues, will be receiving notice that my job is being terminated within 60 days.  Of course, we have been invited to apply for a whole new, more limited set of jobs, none of which is exactly like our old jobs but changed just enough to qualify as a new job description and allow for the termination of the old job position and associate.

In the last two days I’ve applied for two of the new jobs.  Now I’m waiting to see if I will qualify for an interview.  Nothing like not knowing if you’ve not gotten an email because you aren’t getting an email or that you’ve not gotten an email because they’ve not gotten around to sending those emails.  And, there’s nothing like waking up in the middle of the night wondering how you’re going to find a new job and not being able to go back to sleep as a result.

The good news is that my resume is so clean and tight that you can eat off of it.  I just don’t know if it is clean enough and tight enough to get me an interview….with the company with whom I now work.  And in 25 minutes I will cycle through the whole range of emotions between confidence and dread and back again.

You know when "they" say that knowing bad news is better than not knowing anything at all?  Well, I think "they" are right.

Other than that, I’ve got nothing.

Ender is out.
