Late Abby, Late
I’m a bit late in noting the passing of Abigal Van Buren ("Dear Abby"), but I suppose my delay doesn’t affect her situation.
NPR had a "rememberance" for Abby for day after she died. I’m not sure when a rememberance is used instead of a memorial but I have noticed more rememberances than memorials in recent years. Anyway, NPR mentioned Abby’s influence on popular culture and they specifically noted a song about Abby by the Dead Kennedys.
Why, I wondered, did NPR not mention what I believe must be the most famous of songs inspired by Abby? For your listening enjoyment and for a moment of not-quite-silence to remember Abigal Van Buren.
