An Arrow’s Passing
(I wrote this for a project when I was in high school).
Stepping out gracefully
White wings, spread wide,
Ready to take flight.
High above soft, light clouds
White wings, spread wide,
Caress the azure sky.
Long and sleek, nose held high,
White wings, spread wide,
Captivates all hearts.
Swiftly flies homeward bound,
White wings, spread wide,
Descends elegantly.
Torches await, red-hot,
Sizzling with anticipation.
Scorching and searing the
White wings, spread wide,
Souls cry out in anguish.
Watching their dream with its
White wings, spread wide,
Be savagely destroyed.
Never again will the
White wings, spread wide,
Soar high above the clouds.
Only in memory will
White wings, spread wide,
Continue to fly.
